Huffman Branch, Please Correct. In re-organizing the Senatorial committee for this District at the convention last Saturday, the chairmanship of the committee was given to L. F. Keller, of this place. The minutes were left in the hands of the editor of the Leader, who was to- furnish copies to the papers of the district.

In the printed copy received at this office (and we presume the other copies sent out wre similar) the name of W. S. Smith appears a chairman. This error we have corrected in the minutes as they appear in this issue, and we request all the other papers in the District to correct the game. A correspondent, in another place, answers the question, "who is David Harrison," and he answers it rially.

We may add for our correspondent that Mr. Harrison, resides abcut five miles south of Mai ion Centre, and is the head of a pleasant family. Mr. Harrison was an old school-mate and friend of the late General Custer. "UV 1,1 1 i i i i i I ITLOKEN'CE HOTEL.

IJagby a candidate for re-election asTv ustee for Centre township. Our Xext State Senator. As foreshadowed by the results of the several count" conventions in their action in the matter, John, T. Bradley was nominated last Saturday, for Senator. The endersement of the, nominee at the polls in November will be- little- less unanimous than was his nomination in the convention.

This county, at least, may be relied upon as almost unanimous for Bradley. We had the pleasure of meeting cur next Senator last week, and found him an exceedingly genial gentleman, of middle age, strong physigue, excellent conversational powers, keen perceptive and reflective faculties, and frankr open, firm manner of expression. Stephen Jex, of this place, is probably better acquainted with the nominee than any one else ia this couuty, having known him from boyhood, and having been with him through the more than a year of the time in a rebel prison. This gentleman assures us that Capt. Bradley can indeed "point with pride-" to his record from youth up.

There are othei old acquaintances ot the captain, here, all oi whom speak of him iu the highest terms. We clip the following from the Kansas Gazette, (Dickinson county:) Capt. J. T. Bradley, of Council Grove, is a candidate for State Senator in the District composed of Morris, Marion and Chase counties.

He was at one time editor of a newspaper at Solomon City, in this county, and we can say for him, as a neighbor, that we always lound aim honorable and upright in every way. He is a man of ability, sterling integrity, an active worker and if sent to the State Senate, as he ought to be, will be one of its ablest and most influential members. TIXDICATED. The eertainly has as little disposition as any newspaper in the State to support a corrupt man for office. But it has just as little disposition to credit the miserable stories trumpted up by slander-mongers whom it would not believe under oath, against gentlemen of established character.

Hence it deemed ill-advised and premature the impatient demands of professedly Republican journals upon the Republican candidate for Governor to vindicate himself from the slanders heaped upon him by an unreliable, sausational, bittter partisan paper. Mr; Anthony had State business Philadelphia -which, could not be neglect ed, and believing that eleven years of public life in Kansas, uablotled by a sus picion against his integritv, was sufficient to shield his good name from violence, at least in the house of his friend, he went to Philadelphia in the discharge of his duties. The clantor that was raised in hiabsense we regarded as very un just. It. was giving aid and comfort to the enemy.

It was advertising their li bels. It was giving respectability to blander. But Capt. Anthony has returned, and in a sworn statement which it took him two hours to read, a statement meeting every charge, a statement verified in erery particular by strong affidavits, and supported by endorsements unimpeach able, he hab completely vindicated him. self, and floored his enemies.

The State Central Committee have fully exonerated him, and his Topeka audience went wild over his indignant Capt. Anthony now deserves the rote of every honest man in the State, if for no other reason than as a rebuke to the foul cal innniators who would have destroyed his character to accomplish his defeat. It was a neat excuse for not nominating a candidate foi county Attorney. Township Caucus. A Republican township caucus for Centre township, will be held at the court house next Wednesday afternoon at three oclock, to organize a township committee, and possibly to nominate township officers. The Democratic county convention last Saturday was a creditable affair in point of numbers and decorum. The nominees are all good men, The proceedings are published in full in another column.

David Harrison. Mr. Editor. As this gentleman has been nominated by the Republicans for county Superintendent, and as he is a stranger to many who may wish to vote for the nominee of the convention, permit me to introduce him, briefly, to your readers. David Harrison is a native of eastern Ohio, and is in the meridian of life.

Prior to the war he graduated at the first Ohio Normal, at Hopedale, receiving a thorough English education. Subsequently he spent two years more at this famous institution, studying the classics, and later still he spent a ytar at Franklin college, one ol the oldest and best institutions of learning in the State. Since quitting college he has been frequently engaged in teaching, in Ohio, Iowa, and Kansas. Though amply qualified for the position, Mr. Harrison is one of the most modest of men.

He did absolutely nothing to secure his nomination, and he will do- no wire-pulling or button-holing to secure his election. It is a plain case of the office seeking the man, and one of those rare cases where it found the right one. Yours, Wkix-Pleased. Rislf.y Tcwfsiiip, Sett. 26, 1876.
