0l You Are Cordially Invited to St S-" -HU Jan.n" iiim minimi I I i. i. in i r3 .1 Make Our Mo re Your Headauarters DURING FAIR WEEK. To My Friends, Editor Democrat: Noticing that my name has been "mentioned" as one of the probabilities connection with the nomination for County Treasurer for the short term, I would say, that, under no circumstances am I a candidate for this nomination. My business is such that I could no afford to make this race, and would not accept the nomination.

therefore, ask my friends, in the convention, not to use my name as a candi- date, but to support some man that wants it and I will help to him. Yours for success, L. C. Bkeedex. Comet to the Fair next week, and bring the whole family.

Damm Big Yield. The following from the Chilhcothe, Constitution, shows that Pete Damm, who for many years lived here in Barton county, in Liberty township, is showing the Missourians how to pro duce the staff of life: P. Damm, who owns part of the old Graves farm east of Cbiliicothe, has made a strong bid for the blue ribbon for wheat in Livingston county. Mr. Damm had fourteen acres of his farm in wheat.

He recently had it threshed, aud by actual measurement, it went fifty seven andnine fourteenths bushels to the acre a truly stupendous yield. The highest yield previously reported to the Constitution was fifty five bushels, Mr. Damm made the report of his yield to the Constitution in person, and there can be no doubt of its reliability. Livingston county does not yield the palm to any othr locality in the State this year." 5Z 3 Bro. Stoke of the Democrat and others, have insinuated that as secretary of the republican convention, the Leader editor, juggled" the figures in the contest for register of deeds, in favor of Miss Smith, the successful candidate.

We simply wish to state that the insinuation is unjust and uncalled for. We were in favor of the other candidate, but no matter who we were for, we don't believe in taking any unfair advantage, when honored by being given a position of trust. The Great Bend Register published both the informal and formal ballot for that office in it's last week's issue, and it tallies exactly with the secretary. We believe Bro. Stoke will be only doing the fair thing by mentioning that fact in bis next issue.

Otherwise we shall believe that he is indifferent as to whether an unfair insinuation against a brother editor, is allowed to go uncorrected in his paper. Ellinwood Leader. So FARa9 the editor of the Democrat is concerned we do not desire to "in sinuate" anything derogatory to Bro Cooke of the Leader. We published the ballots as reported by the secre If you have any packages or wraps that you do not wish to be bothered with during the day, leave them in our care, and call for them when you are ready to go home.
