and Virgil Bacon, of the Mercantile left this morning for Kentucky. Dr. Cordier goes as a delegate from the Kansas State Medical Association, to atttend the meeting of the Nashville, Tennessee Medical Ass'x-iation. He will take his daugh-er to his mother's in Kentucky where she will remain while he attend the association. He will be absent about ten days.

Mr. Bacon will be absent three weeks. SATURDAY. Charles Bussei), of Galva. made a -hort call to-day.

J. V. Welch was in the city to-lay. He says that the storm was quite severe in some parts of Lone Tre.J township. The shortest name in the state, it is said, belongs to Councilman Ow, of Eldorado.

Wichita Journal. McPherson has a druggist with a name as short as Mr. Ow. L. P.

Ek. Come again, this city will keep even with you. H. Bowker went out to his farm to-day to take a second look at his wheat. He says it is hard to tell that it was ever touched by a hail s'orm.

He thinks that the damage by Saturday's storm will not be near so much as first estimated. It is not generally known that the colored people of McPherson have during the past two months been carrying on a very successful revival of religion. Ministers from Salina. Hutchinson and Newton have made frequent visits and labored in season and out of season and the result is a strong organization known as the Second Baptist church. Yesterday there were thirteen daptized at the First Baptist church by Rev.

Tutt who has been called as their pastor. Last night they held services in the Y. M. C. A.
