Monday, February 4, 1946 3k San mbiai Page Three 'faultless lossle Apples For the Teachers Juniors Give Skit Of Popular Program "There was a little girl in a little house. It was raining outside and the water went drop, drop, "DROP THAT GUN, you low down no good "Limberger cheese is manufactured in the great metropolis of screwyville "What's this? Vera Young vigorously punching the push buttons on the radio. Ah! It seems like a hot trumpet arrangement of "Caledonia in Sharp Minor" appeals to her. But no, her preference is that ever-popular program, "Take It Or Leave It" Master of ceremonies, Frank Ross, is reading the list of subjects in the category. Music Identity, Makers of Planes, History, Capitals of States, Capitals of Countries, Home Economics, Animals, Sports, and Wars-Generals.

The contestants seem very familiar. They are Janice Black-hall, Maxine Marlow, Nadine Speer, Bob Newman, and the one and only John Q. Paden! Now comes the special quiz, "How many dimes laid flat (face to face) would it take to make a single column a mile high?" "Who took the place of General Marshall recently as Chief of Staff?" was the jackpot Dear Faultless Flossie: I have fallen for a new freshman girt She sits at the same table as I do in stuto hall, but won't even look at me. I want to know how we can become a gruesome twosome. LLL Dear L.

L. Maybe she won't look at you in study hall because she is busy studying. You must remember that she is just a freshman and hasn't learned yet that study halls are meant for gazing at those we love and not for studying. Give her time. She'll learn.

In the meantime 1 might suggest that you ask her for a date. That seems to be the simplest solution to your problem. FAULTLESS FLOSSIE Dear Faultless Flossie: I am a junior boy who hasn't started going with girls yet I wonder if you would tell me whether I should go with a senior girl or a freshman girl. WORLDLY Dear Worldly: Since you haven't been going with girls perhaps it would be better if you went with the freshman girl. Her experience in such things would closer approximate your own and you would have more fun as a result.

Of course, there are exceptions to this. Some senior boys and girls have been going on dates since they were in the eighth grade and still don't know how to act while on one. FAULTLESS FLOSSIE Dear Faultless Flossie: If a boy stands you np three times in succession, should you consider going with him again? STOOD-UP Dear Stood-Up: If the guy has stood you up three times in a row, it should prove pretty conclusively that he doesn't think very much of you. If I were you, I'd find someone else to go with and tell this stander-upper to go jump in the lake. FAULTLESS FLOSSIE Dear Faultless Flossie: I'm considered quite attractive, but it seems that I still spend my evenings alone.

What is wrong? BROWN EYES Dear Brown Eyes: There are many things that might be wrong, but there is one thing that is very important to a girl whether she is attracive or not. That thing is personality. The most beautiful girl in the world would have trouble getting dates if she had a bad personality. Maybe that's not what is wrong with you, but it's a suggestion. FAULTLESS FLOSSIE Dear Faultless Flossie: You are so experienced, I wondered if you might help me.

How does a girl go about getting a fellow to make love to her without his catching on to what you are doing? IMA SUCKER Dear Ima Sucker: Only one way. Be attractive to him both in the way you dress and the way you act Dont seem too "eager." Make the guy think he has to win you. This is very important. Give him a little encouragement, though. This method is slow, but it will generally work.

FAULTLESS FLOSSIE Dear Faultless Flossie: I am madly in love with one of my English teachers. She's so beautiful and wonderful that I just can't live without her. Can you help me with my problem? FAILING Dear Failing: Though I can't blame you I'm afraid the situation is hopeless. I wrote to her husband and he said definitely he would not divorce her. Best thing to do is just find someone closer your own age.

FAULTLESS FLOSSIE The vocal music groups, glee clubs and mixed chorus, are preparing music for the spring contests to be held in Wichita, April 1 and 2. The band is now working on some of the pieces to be played at the district festival at Lyons in April, and is planning to begin work on music for the spring contest in Wichita and the festival at Hutchinson to be held in May. Miss Doris Stewart, proprietess of the Doris Beauty Shop, gave a talk on the care and style of hair at the Delta Phi meeting last Wednesday. Miss Stewart stressed the fact that the hair style worn by an individual should match her personality, the way they feel inside. A hairdo like a dress should be fixed to suit the occasion.

Extreme hair styles such as an upsweep are suitable for banquets and important social affairs, but would be as distasteful with anklets as sport clothes at formal gatherings. Roll call was answered by the kind of lipstick used by the girls. A party for the woodwind and percussion section of the band was presented by the brass group, January 30. The losing side of the ticket sales for the minstrel gave the party for the winning group. Interesting games were played, and sandwiches, potato chips, ice cream, devils food cake, and cokes were served.

The bookkeeping class is working on material for two contests. They are not yet ready to try for a superior certificate, but will work on junior and senior awards. Prizes are awarded in three divisions in the International Bookkeeping Contest: first place fifteen dollars to the winning class and ten dollars to the teacher; second place ten dollars to the teacher of the class; third place five dollars to the teacher; superior merit three dollars to the teacher whose class achieves a score of 275 or over. One dollar in Saving Stamps will be presented to one hundred students with outstanding papers, and an attractive two-color International Bookkeeping Contest certificate will be awarded to each student whose paper meets an acceptable business standard.

As a last resort Mrs. Stitt, journalism sponsor, has promised the Sun Dial staff a party on the Monday after the paper comes out if all meet the deadline Thursday noon. A lunch will be served if the articles are in on time, and it will be a day of rest for work-weary reporters. The foods classes have been divided into groups of four and they have been serving breakfasts. Alternating, the groups served one another each in turn selecting a host and hostess to preside oyer the meal.

Due to the lack of sufficient time the breakfasts were served at seven thirty, eleven thirty, and six on Monday and Tuesday. Care was taken in table decorations and manners.
