Hostetler of Republic county, William Walker of Sherman county, Thomas W. Morgan of Franklin county. Obituary of Mrs. Rogers. Eleanor Chance Rogers was born Feb.

13, 1836, and died Feb. 3, 1910, lacking just 10 days of being 74 years of age. In 1856 she was married to Chas. Rogers, who departed this life in December 1895. To this union five children were born, one dying in childhood.

Four still survive to mourn their loss: William B. of Bandon, Oregon, Henry of Seattle, Mrs. Mattie Hoover, and Fred Rogers, of this city; also a brother, William Chance, who is now 85 years old. Mrs. Rogers united with the Christian church in Portland, Oregor in 1894, and has since been a devoted follower of her Savior.

She has been in poor health for ten years, and for the past year she has been confined to her room. Funeral services were held at the home of her son-in-law, Mr. Hi. Hoover, as her daughter Mattie Hoover, was too poorly to leave the house. The services were conducted by W.

R. McCrea, pastor of the Christian church, Friday afternoon, Feb. 4, 1910. Interment took place at the Larned cemetery. Town Lots Given Away! Recently about 100 Democrats of Reno county gathered at an informal dinner given as a farewell to J. Whitehurst, of Sylvia, who will leave for Oklahoma. Mr.

Whitehurst had been treasurer of the Reno county Democratic Central committee, and was one of the best workers in the county and was well known through out the state. After the dinner a resolution was introduced by Fred Forney pledging the support of the Democrats of Reno county to George A. Neeley as a candidate for congress in the Seventh district. Mr. Neeley will make a race for the nomination, and if nominated "will undoubtedly be elected to congress from the Seventh district.

The dinner was given by the Hutchinson Gazette, one of the leading papers in this district. Sam Hale, of LaCrosse, takes an optimistic view of the Democratic situation in Kansas. While in Hutchinson recently Mr. Hale said, "I believe the Democrats have a show to elect nearly all of the state ticket, and the congressman in all districts. There seems to be a misunderstanding in the Republican ranks as to what constitutes a Republican; some call themselves 'stand-patters' others call themselves I am not able to say which is which, but I suppose a genuine Republican is one who stands for the things advocated by such men as Cannon, Aldrich and Taft, who are doing their best to put into practice the doctrine that has been advocated by the g.
