Tho Leap Year finale at goda-o'a Grove. Tbe young ladiea of Emporia bave placed their senilemaa friends under a debt ot gratitude which will never be adequately discharged until the lords of creation learn to engineer a picnic in the felicitous manner In which the leap year party was conducted at oouen grove last evening. The success of tbe sflalr was ao complete that nothing, we tbink, could have been done which might have added to the enjoyment of the large company that oarticipatcd in the delightful entertainment. Tbe plcnlcers were conveyed to the grove by the excursion street car, which was chartered by the ladies, and which aUrted from Irwin's drug store 7:30 o'clock. Upon reaching the grounds tables were immediately spread for sup per on the dancing platform and the gentlemen were quickly- seated, tbe ladies exercioloK care tbat they were bountifully helped to everything which they could not reach.

The spread in eluded a large variety of substantial and delicacies, which vanished almost as if by magic at the handa of as hungry company as ever showed their apprecia tion of faultless cooking. After tbo laufes had been served tbe tables were cleared Awsy and dancing waa inaugurated, lor which music was furnished by Romalne'a orchestra. The platform was covered with canvass, and as tbe musicians were st their bt st, this feature of the occasion was generally snd heartily eni'iyed. The grounds were well lighted, there was an abun dance of cooling beverages in tbe way of lemonade and ice and the con veniencea provided by 'Mr. 'Manning, tbe leasee ot tbe grove, rendered impossible any such thing as a jar In the happy proceedings.

The ladies treated their noble and handsome charges with a measure of delicate consideration tbat added to the general good will which pervaded the party snd tbe only regret which any one could entertain in connection with the affair was expressed by a very pretty young man who said it was too harrow ing to think tbat leap year only came round once in every tour years.
