One of the most dktructive hail and wind storms that ever visited i i this sec! ion of country, swept across the county from southwest to ncrth- east Saturday afternoon.

The storm was especially detractive in Biaine Dighton and Wilson townships. The first place any serious damage was done was J. G. Noll's place in Blaine township where bis growing crop was literally wiped out of existence by the violence of the hail and wind. The next place was W.

L. Boatman's, whose loss was very se- vere, fully 250 acres of very proicis-! ing crop being'distroyed in less than half hour; hi3 barn, granary and chicken house were torn to kindling wood and.125 chickens killed. Dntcit lost his wind mill and his crop is more or less damaged. Moss Fosdick lost 275 acres of wheat, rye and oats which promised better than average crop, Nial Sheets in the edge of the storm path was only lichtly iniured. VV.

Tyner and and Harvey Tyner had about 300 acres of wheat distroyed, Geo. Kell, John Klaas and A. Hildreth had almost theixv entire crops distroyed but the number of acres we have not secured, Henry Stevens crop was totally destroyed, VFinslcw Ful- er's crop of 160 acres was destroyed, and Carnnger entire crop wiped out, Ben Green, Hngh Bikett Oil Ross, and Chas. Johnson were also damaged to some extent, as possibly were others, but this is the oss as we have been enabled to get it. At anieids tne scnooi nouse was struck by lighting, and badly wreck ed by the wind.

Some idea of the violence of the storm may be gained from the fact that tho bark was stripped from the trunks of trees six an eight inches iu diameter, and not whole window'licht was left on the south or west sides of tho houses in the storms path. The amount of dnmage done can hardly be estimat ed. Between 2,000 and 3,000 acres of wheat, and other crops have been distroyed, and this to gather with other losses would foot ud close to $15,000. Of course this is only ap proximate, but favorable conditions, from this on would increase rather than deminish the amount. PENDENNIS.
