Messrs. Bates and Levisey left Saturday night for Seattle. A number from Lewis attended the Woodmen picnic in Crabtree's grove Thursday. Mr. and Mrs.

C. W. Bridwell and little son, Floyd, left Saturday for their home in Oklahoma. Mrs. J.

T. Christison and brother, J. B. Denney, left Wednesday for western Kansas to visit a few weeks with their brother and. family.

Craft's lawn last Wednesday night was well attended and a jolly time was reported by all. A number of Miss Myrtle Jarvis's friends gave her a linen-shower Monday night. Many useful presents were given. The evening was spent in music by the hostess and her sisters and three readings by Miss Grace Ostrander. At 9:30 a light luncheon was served in the dining-room.

Rockenbach, who was visiting Abner and Oscar Offerle, left for Colorado Thursday evening. Miss Bertha Miller arrived Sunday and has charge of the school, which opened Monday morning. Norman Johnson, who was visiting his uncle, A. L. Tipton, returned to his home in Lakin Wednesday.

Miss Katie Dome left for Olathe Sunday evening. She will enter the school for the deaf and dumb. Miss Frances Dawley went to Dodge City Friday, going from there to Ford to her school, which opened Monday. Judge Wm. Ehlers, of Sweet Springs, and Gus Ehlers, of Albert, visited M.

Offerle and daughter, Blanche, left Thursday for a visit with relatives in Kansas City, Abilene, and Wichita. Mrs. Geitgey and daughter, Millie, went to Dodge City Thursday noon. The family will make their home there, where Millie will attend school. Mrs.

E. P. Mattingly and daughter, Miss Helen, of Colorado Springs, who have been visiting in Pennsylvania, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. W.

There was about a half -inch of rainfall Monday night, but not enough to put the ground in condition for preparing for wheat. Stella Scott and Maude McLean went to Winfield Sunday to take up their studies in the college at that place for the coming year.
