Brunner. Mr. Brunner is an experienced mill man, and io our personal knowledge is a strictly honest mil ler. Our neighbor, Talbot, ha3 repainted his house white; garnished it up in very fine style; made him a brick walk; got his lawn nicely shaven, and has flower beds in full bloom whitewashed his and got everything in such presentable style that the eye is pleased with it. The Judge is the most industrious man in pur part of town.

Weather. On Monday night last we had a copious shower of rain, accompanied with a very strong wind. Infact.it was the strongest wind that has passed over us in Kansas though we have been nearly eleven years an inhabitant of the State. We now have moisture enough to make all the crops, possibly, with the exception of some late vegetables. Everything very abundant; everybody come to Kansas.

Something over a week ago a very mysterious transanction occurred near Jacksonville and just across the line, in Labette count', Km. A rs. Henry died very suddenly 'and in a manner that suggested very strongly that she had been poisoned. The suspicion of foul play was so strong that Henry has been arrested and committed to jail to await the action of the authorities. Crawford Co.

He informed us that he had traveled in twenty-seven states of the Union quite extensively, and that in his opinion the country hereabouts is the best and most inviting he has ever seen. The chances are that he will select this as his future field of operations.

We received a fine box of peaches to sample this week from our neighbor Dr. Jaynes. We pronounce them excellent. We do not know whether it was owing to our having a peculiar liking to the Doctor and his family, but those peaches seemed to us to be uncommonly delicious. A New Store.

Oar old and esteemed fellow-townsman T. B. J. Wheat has opened a new shoe store on Forest avenue, just west or the public well. His stock is bran new and of first rate quality.
