The Grand opera house held a large and appreciative audience last night when the Masque Dramatic club presented the college comedy three act drama, "The The play was given under the direction of Miss Lina Bressette and John Meyer. Governor Hodges wil spend a strenuous Fourth of July. His program for the day calls for a speech in competition with the roar of firecrackers and merry-go-round music; and the opening of the day's festivities with a 100 mile automobile run over the Old Santa Fe trail. Yesterday the governor consented to make a run over the Old Santa Fe trail from Council Grove to McPherson, through Herington, Marion and into McPherson county. The run will start at daylight and the Kansas executive received the cheerful information that several hundred motor cars would be in the 00 1mile parade and aid in the distribution of dust and noise. It is planned that the governor's party will arrive in McPherson at noon.

In the afternoon Governor Hodges will make a speech. A few weeks ago the governor made the 300 mile run over the New Santa Fe trail from Hutchinson to Kansas City. So, when the run over the Old Trail was planned, there was nothing to do but to accept the invitation,.
