GRASS SEEDS, EYE AND FLOUR. TELEPHONE 110. M. BALDERSON, Fur the Evening News. Idle Young Men.

I have just rend an article in the News about there being so many young men in Wichita living like the lillies. What is the reason they tyil not Because they can get nothing to do. And why are they here Because the papers are all the time inviting them here, aud carrying the idea that work is plenty and wages good. Times have been dull in the East, and hundreds) have come to Wichita with just money enough to get hero, expecting to get work immediately, and be able to pay their way. Many of thorn are away fiom home for the first time, and are easily led astray.

How do they live Some of them find motherly landladies who trust them for board for a while, (believing them hoDest) aud trying to do by them as they would wish their own sons to be dune by, iu line cLcumstauces. Some others sleep in barns und eke out a snbeistanoo tho dear knows how longing to go back and would go, if they could get anything to do to earn the money to take I am not unmindful that there is a large clans that do not want to work, as long as thry can keep son; and body together without but ail who ure idle ere not of that class. During the present revival meetings, some who have led reckless, dissolute lives, have professed chrMUntly, nd seem to be try-ing to lead better Mr. Editor, let us believe them honest until are sure they are not, and encourage and help them whenever we can. HALL, SOUTHWESTERN HUS1NESS COLLEGE, Ono of tlie Grout ItUulloni of WlHiOtte Wlohltu is fast becoming a onllured city, as well oe a great oommorolul conter. Tide fact is evident from the number of her educational instllutlone now in euocossful operation, foremost among which stands the souruwEsrxuN business coli.kcie, located at the northeast corner of Douglas and Topeka avenues, in the Noble building. Prof. E. II.

Fritch, tho principal and proprietor, came to Wichita from St. Louis last Bummer, and was for some time associated with Prof. Ponce, on Main street. The latter gentleman, having been offered a good position in the oity schools, sold out his interest to Prof. Fritoh, who bo-oame sole proprietor.

The increase in the number of scholars, and business of the college, made a change of quartors nooes-sary, and Prof. Fritch routed the second floor of the new Noble building, which is elegantly fitted up for school purposes. The front room, which is the college office, ie handsomely carpeted and furnished, the walls being adorned with artistic sketches in penmanship, the work of Prof. Fritch, who is a natural artist with the pen. In fact, the Prof.

1ms no supori ors and few equals in his Hue. A full picture of Chester A. Arthur, done with the pen, is as fine os a steel engraving, and would attract attention in the Academy of Fine Arts, in New York of London. Book-keeping, commercial law, business penmnnship, plain nnd ornamental pen manship, mathematics, telegraphy, stenog rophy, languages in fact, everything taught iu other first-cluss colleges is taught in the Southwestern Business Col lege of Wichita. Thero may he larger and more preten tious colleges college, with high sound iug names and gray with age and reputation, from whose halls have como forth some of the best business men and women cf the day yet we doubt if those old echools ever had or have to-day more competent faculty, or a better prin oipal than tho Southwestern Business Col lege located liete in tho Arkansas Valley.

Students nro coming in fyom other states, and the new quartors are filling up fast, so that more room will be needed before many months. In fact, Prof, Fritch is seriously thinking of erecting building on purpose for a college, with rooms for students, and all tho necessary convoniencs nnd arrangements to insure comfort of the attendance. Anil wny not We linve an idea that a builaiug for ft great school like the Southwestern Busi ness College is as much a necessity as building for a common school. Of course, the present quarters are com modious and roomy and will do for the present, but we are speaking here of pro yiding for the '1 HE F40ULTV of the Southwestern Busir.osa College is composed of the following members E. H.

Fritch, principal nnd proprietor superintendent of the book-keeping do pnrtment, nnd teacher of plain nnd ornn mental penmanship. Chester F. Adams, M. teacher of book-keeping, mathc niatics, and principal of actual business department. Richard A.

Hasto, member of Wiohita bar, teaoher of commercial law, ar.d the construction of business paper. W. H. Non nos, aesistant teacher of book-keeping. G.

W. Foster, principal of the telegraph department. G. W. Kirby United Stales court stenographer, teacher of shoit-hnnd and typo-writing.

Mrs, Dreschanx, teacher of laLgungis. The faculty is a Btrung one. None but the most thoroughly competent teachers are engaged, and Prof Fritch divides his time among the different departments; and instructs cs well ns oversees everything. Pupils can eDter at any time and will be taught, as they may select, double entry book-keoping, embracing mercantile, man ufacturing aud farm book-keeping, individual company and compound company, with forms adapted to tho wholesale aud retail, banking and commission busi ness, together with accounts current, account Bales, and business penman, ship, commercial correspondence, business penmanship, business arithmetic, commercial law and the construction of business paper. Scholarships in the book-keeping course are limited to four and one-half, and in the full commercial course to seven and one half months.

Any person of ordinary ability, can complete the former course from three aud one-half to four, and the latter from six to seven monthB. There is no use for any boy or girl to leave Sedgwick county iu order to get a thorough business education at small cost, because the tuition is low, and the course can be taken by any boy or girl of spirit and industry, no matter how poor they be, Students from abroad, will find the Southwestern Business College just as good as oan bo found in any city of the United States. No better or more competent teaehora than Prof. Fritoh nnd his assistants can be found anywhere. This institute is, in fact, the pride of Wiohiia.
