L. LUCAS has just purchased a fine 56-acre farm two miles from Oil City, consisting of a nice cottage, large barn, brooder house, breeding house, 100-foot long Ban-tarn house, dog house, milk room, incubator cellar, and numerous other conveniences. The farm is enclosed with an 8-foot wire fence, and it a model, up-to-date farm. Mr. Lucas will here raise his White Plymouth Rocks, his well known strain of Buff Cochin Bantams, Blenheim and King Spaniel Dogs, and also pedigreed Belgian hares.

He also has several Maltese Milk Goats. It is said that twelve of these goats can he kept on what it takes to keep one cow. He has a circular giving full description of these goats and also his other stock. WE PRESUME all of our readers have noticed the advertisement of the Westorn Poultry Netawaka, Neb. The illustration of making a long tall (tale) short is a striking one.

The proprietor of these poultry yards is Mr. E. D. Van Court, who is also proprietor of a stone quarry from which he gets hts famous limestone grit, which shows by chemical analysis 96 per cent carbonate of lime. Mr.

Van Court has been in the poultry business for several years. Starting with the best stock he could buy, and breeding with carefulness and precision each year, he now has stock that will suit anybody. Newton, Kansas Show The fifth annual show of the Harvey County Poultry Association will be held In the Auditorium at Newton, December 3-8, 1900. The exhibition last year held at the same place was largely attended, and over one thousand birds were displayed. The one this year bids fair to surpass last year success. New departments have been added.

Belgian l.ares, pigeons, and pet stuck of all descriptions will be shown. Attractive premiums will be offered on all classes, which will undoubtedly bring out a large number of exhibitors. The Commercial Club of Newton has offered four prizes of $10 each to be given to exnibltors on the following classes: American, Asiatic, Mediterranean, and turkeys. W. S.

The East Palestine Fanciers Association will hold their next annual exhibition of poultry, pigeons and pet stock January 8-11, 1901, and if present indications can be accepted as forecasting the truth, this exhibition will be the largest and best ever given by this Association. East Palestine, Ohio. One of the biggest and best Poultry and Hare shows ever seen in this city will be held Jan. 8-12, by the Pikes Peak Belgian Hare Club and Pikes Peak Poultry Association jointly. The Hare Club has purchased an elegant silver cup which will be given as a prize for the highest scoring domestic buck, the winner to compete and win it at three successive shows before the cup becomes his property. There will also be many other prizes.

The officers of the Pikes Peak Hare Club are: W. J. Doyle, pres ident; A. F. Stone, first vice president L.

Hiner, second vice president; E. C. Davis, treasurer; Chas. F. Leibold, secretary.

At a recent meeting of the Arkansas Valley Pigeon Fanciers Association Mr. Chas. Mos-tacher was elected president to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr. T. S.

Rollers, and Mr. Sollers was elected secretary to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr. W. E. Foster, and the following Executive Committee were elected: W.

E. Foster of this city. O. C. Lane of Sterling, and J.

F. D. Walker of the firm cf Gees Walker of Kansas City, Mo. It has been de Kansas City to judge the hares. This is our fourth annual show and the names of the rcn connected with it is a guarantee of success.

A. Spencer writes us that preparations are being made for a good show at Emporia, December 5. Judge Savage of Belton, Texas, has been secured to judge the show. They will pay the regular per cent of entry fee casli premiums with many valuable specials. Last year one exhibitor won over $11 on one variety.

Breeders can show at Emporia and then ship their birds direct to Topeka for the State Show. We trust that as many as. can will patronize this show. The twelfth annual exhibition of the Northern Illionis Poultry Association will be held in Rockford, 111., January 7-12. 1901.

Cash premiums will be paid and there is sufficient money in the treasury to assure the payment of all prizes. Chas. McClave of New London. Ohio, will judge the poultry, and Geo. Ewald of Cincinnati, Ohio, the pigeons and pet stock.

A large and elaborate premium list of the show Is now ready for distribution and any one addressing B. R. Lucas, Corresponding Secretary, Belvidere, Illinois, can secure one. The fanciers In Oklahoma City have organized the Oklahoma City Poultry and Belgian Hare Association. The Association strata out with nearly twenty members.

They will hold a show December 26128, 1900. M. 3. rite will judge, and E. J.

Rockefeller will be superintendent. Membership fee Is $1. The following officers were elected: President. J. J.

Lillie New Kansas City Club Editor Illustrated Poultry Gazette: At a meeting of poultry fanciers held November 8th, in Kansas City, an organization was formed which will he known as the Kansas City Fancy Poultry Club. Its aim will be to advance the breeding of standard bred poultry in all legitimate ways. The Club will hold one regular meeting each month. The order of exercises will be to discuss poultry, score birds, and listen to papers on various subjects. The members will work in harmony with the annual Convention Hall Show, January 15-22.

1901. The Club 'wishes it distinctly understood that they have no connection whatever with a body known as the Kansas City Fancy Poultry Breeders Association, who are endeavoring to give a show in opposition to the regular Convention Hall Show in January. The following officers were unanimously elected for the ensuing jear: President, James R. Young (proprietor of Acme Poultry Yards, Manhattan, first vice president, II. II.

Borgman; second vice president, Ed H. Mack; secretary, C. S. Hunting. The next meoling will be held December 4th, at 512 Hall Kansas City, Mo.

Brainard, secretary. The Pontiac Poultry, Pigeon and Pet Stock Club was organized October with a large membership, and decided to hold their first show the latter part of January, 1901, and there is no doubt but that it will be a hummer. The McPherson County Poultry and Pet Stock Association will have their annual show at McPherson, Kansas, Dec. 18-22. C.

The Marysville Poultry and Pet Stock Association will hold its Second Annual Show. January 30-31- February 1-2, 1901, at Marysville, Ohio. Ben S. Myers will judge the show. N.

McLoud is President and M. L. Myers, Secretary. The Garfield County, Oklahoma, Poul.ry Association has canceled the date of their show, which was set for December 6-8, 1900, at Enid, Okla. This was done as a loom could not be secured in which to hold the exhibit.

C. C. HOAG, Secretary. The fourth annual exhibition of the Sycamore Poultry and Pet Stock Association will be held at Sycamore, Ohio, December 26-29, 1900. II.

WILLIAMS. Secretary. The Pikes Peak Poultry Association will hold its Sixth Annual Show on January 8-12, 1501, at Colorado Springs, In conjunction with the Tikes Teak Belgian Hare Club. Judge lhos. Southard of Kansas City has been engaged to judge the poultry.

Colorado Springs has a wide reputation for holding successful shows, but this year promises to heat the record. J. M. HILL, Secretary. With $090 in cash and special premiums as an inducement to fanciers, the annual exhibition of the Elgin Poultry Association to he held at Elgin, December 21-27, 1900, promises to he one of the largest and best shows of Northern Illinois.
