On Sabbath afternoon, June 30, at the Presbyterian Sunday school, Miss Maude Tuttle recieved a handsome Bible, as a prize from the Presbyterian Board of Publication, also a present from the pastor, as a reward for having committed to memory the Wesminster Shorter Catechism. On the first Sabbath in the month the following officers were elected in the Sabbath school for the next six months: Mr.

Harold Partridge, superintendent; Mr. William Tomlinson, assistant su perintendent; Miss Martin, secretary; Mr. Jas. Boggs, Miss Maggie Sullivan, pianist; Mr. Ilobt.

Sullivan, librarian; Mrs. Mary Tomlinson, distributer of rewards. Sunday evening, July 14, at the Perkins Presbyterian church, the time for the regular evening service was occupied by a missionary meeting conducted by the Young Peoples Society of Christian Endeavor. The topic was, Mission Work in Japan, and a great many interesting and helpful facts were developed, concerning the Masters work in that most interesting field. At the last regular business meeting of the Y.

P. S. C. E. of the Presbyterian church, the following officers were elected: Miss May Boggs, president; Mr.

Hubert Wilhite, vice president; Miss Einlayson, secretary; Miss Anna Brill, treasurer. During the past six months the society has increased in membership: active, associate, making the total membership at present, 24, 14 active and 10 associate. The following persons have subscribed to the Buhton Baptist since our last issue: Mr. I. McDonald, Mrs.

The Christian Sunday school has been discontinued for the hot weather. Ur. Stever preached in the morning of June 30 and July 7 for the Methodists. Horn: daughters to Messrs. Ilawx- hurst andKrapf; sons to Scott Spillman and Captain Vidler.

It was a praiseworthy act for Mr. J. E. Zimmerman to do: the raising that money for the Johnstown suffers. Presiding Elder Botkin preached in the Methodist church in the evening of July 7, and held quarterly meeting the next day.

Angie AVellman and her sister deserve special mention for being neither absent or tardy once from the public school the whole year. Thinking some would like to send away copies of this number we have ordered thirty copies extra. They can be obtained at the drug store at two cents each. Sunday school is held by the Methodists as before. Probably there will be occasional preaching; just when another preacher will come regularly is not known now.

The collection in the Methodist church Childrens Day amounted to fto.Ofi. was sent to the conference school at Winiield. The rest went into the general fund. Our thanks are due Supt. J.

T. Chamberlain, Mr. Crewson, Capt. Vidler, Mr. Krapf and Mr.

Dow for favors received in connection with the preparation of the article on the car-works. Bev. 0. P. Light is in Oklahoma near where his claim is.

He preaches regularly at two points: Beno city and El Bono. Prof. Light was down to see him recently, lie found his father comfortably situated, though everything shows it is a new country. We have four deaths to record: Of consumption in Missouri, Mrs. Dr.

Bar- tie; from the same disease, three miles north, July Mrs. Maggie Brown. A daughter was born to Mrs. llawxlmrst which lived only three days. Little Harry Morrison died July 7, after a very brief illness.
