Lardner.) I guess this is about the steenth time Ive started to keep a diary, but somethings always happened to make me give them up, but this time Im' going to try and keep it up and write something in it every day and I think the trouble with the others I started was because I kept them at home and was going to write in them every night, but no sooner would I get started writing and the phone would ring and it was Clara wont you do this or Wont you do that or wont you go out for a little ride, and then by the time I got home again I was so sleepy to do anything but go to bed, but this time Im going to keep it down to the office and take part of my lunch hour to write down my thoughts in it and see if I cant keep it up a whole year and some day it will make very interesting reading, but, of course, no one but I myself will ever see it and Id simply die if somebody else seen it. Because this is for my inward-most thoughts and not for pruying eyes. Maybe I better start off with something about myself in case this should fall into other hands who didnt know the author. My full name is Clara Louisa Meyers, 4742 Indiana avenue, and was 24 years of age a year ago Noyember, and at present I am employed as operator down to Berg and Co.s Chicago office, the music publishers. I live out to my brother and his wife and my brother Harry insisted that I should come and live with him till I got a home of my own and I guess Lottie thats his wife wishes I would hurry up and get a home of my own and make up my mind in regards to whom will be my choice for a husband, but if It was a question of makeing up my mind I could get married tomorrow, but I wont never marry until I meet the man for who I would gladly die, and when I meet the man that inspires those feelings in me I wont care if hes a millionaire or a working on a good salary, but I dont intend to say yes to any one of the men that Would jump at the chance if I give them a bit of encouragement just for Lotties sake.

When I marry it will be to please myself and not Lottie or no one else. I am 5 foot 7 inches in hight and weigh 126 lbs. and built a lot like Mrs Castle though not as tall and skinny. I have thick wavey hair that falls way below my waist and when its in the sunlight it looks like new copper and my eye brows and lashes are a shade darker, and the brows are arched and my eyes large and dark blue and my nose is nearly straight with a little tilt up at the end and the boys say my lips are like cherrys and I havent never had to be ashamed of my complexion or my teeth and my face is oval and a rounded chin and my feet if anything are to small. Lottie has got positively fat in the past yr.

and she talks all the time about how hard she has to work around the house (Continued on Page 3) JOINT OPERATORS SCHOOL. Held by the Kansas and the Missouri Independent Telephone Associations at the Coates House. The school was conducted at Kansas City, May 11 and 12, 1916, by W. S. Vivian, Secretary of the United States Independent Telephone Association and H.

E. Gwillim, Traffic Manager of the Kansas City Home Telephone Company. The meeting was well attended by operators and managers from the eastern section of Kansas and western section of Missouri. The instructions to operators by Mr. Vivian and Mr.

Gwillim were very interesting and every one seemed well pleased and glad thy had come. The operators from different part of the two states were entertained by the Kansas City Home Telephone Company. On Thursday they were treated to an automobile ride over th beautiful boulevards and through the residence districts of Kansas City. On Friday they were served a noonday luncheon at the Coates House (Friday being a rainy day, the pleasures were very much handicapped), but everyone returned to their respectiv homes and work feeling they had been well repaid for the time spent atending a profitable operators instruction school.
