22 THE MESSENGER The Carolus Club has been enjoying a series of interesting talks on the customs and people of foreign nations. The Club has been very fortunate in that it has been able to call on several members who have been either abroad themselves or have unusual interest in distant countries because of their relatives. Miss Waddington gave an exceedingly interesting talk on her experiences in Hawaii, using colored slides. The Club has also undertaken a group of six clever farces. The first one He Never Smiled, was given with great credit.

Practical Jokes, was also a success. The Philomelian Society has extended its constitution to include students from all classes. About twenty-five new members have been voted in. New officers have recently been elected. The society has chosen and ordered pins.

The pin is formed by an English crest and a torch. The crest bears the letters P. L. S. These letters stand for Philomelian Literary Society.

Y. W. C. A. CLUB.

The Y. W. C. A. Club is just one year old, and yet it has done many things of which is can justly be proud.

An information booth was placed in the corridor, and second hand books were handled at the opening of the school year. At Thanksgiving, a basket was taken to a poor family. Then at Christmas time, seven families were provided with gifts, and two of these families also had trees given to them. The Big Sister Movement is being organized thru this club. It is a great movement, and should mean a great deal to the High School.

A committee has been appointed to investigate the feasibility of establishing a Club Bureau for the employment of high school girls after school hours. This will probably be done, thus relieving one of the needs of the high shcool. But the club has also enjoyed many pleasant social occasions. Meetings have been held regularly, and an interesting program has always been enjoyed. Every member is looking forward to still greater things in the next year.

All high school girls are welcome. WIRELESS CLUB. A Wireless Club has been organized in the W. H. S.

which promises to be a grand success. The apparatus is set up in the Chemistry laboratory and many new and up-to-date additions are expected soon. The officers are: President William Wolaver Vice President Clifford Whitmer Secretary and Wendal Morgan For some time past the members have merely been having code practice but in the near future they expect to get into communication with Topeka and numerous nearby stations. The membership is open to all boys who are in the least interested in wireless telegraphy, and about twenty-five have already taken advantage of the splendid opportunities offered. It is expected that the membership will be doubled before the year is over, for its purpose to give educational and practical experience is well worth any boys attention.

CHORAL CLUB. The Choral Club has been doing great things. It meets in the fourth study period on Wednesdays, and all students are welcome. A very interesting program was given in the high school auditorium, December 24. The program consisted entirely of Christmas carols.

The same program was given at the Form at the Municipal Christmas tree on December 22. The club is studying some very beautiful four part songs at present and it is hoped that something really big and worth while may be given before school closes..
