THE BUSY BEE MAGAZINE VOL. I. TOPEKA, KANSAS, APRIL, 1893. No. 3 The Busy Bee Magazine.

PUBLISHED MONTHLY BY J. E. HAZEN, Editor and Proprietor, 627 Van Buren Topeka, Kas. Entered at the Postoffice at Topeka, Kansas, as Second-Class Matter. a year, in advance.

Pansies. BY CARRIE WINANS PRATT. Pansies blue--of heaven's own hueWith hope they cheer my heart; With smiling face, and dainty graceSweet loveliness is all their art. Pansies yellow, with tints SO mellow, A gleam of sunshine bring; They seem to say, "Tho' dark the way, Be strong, oh heart, and sing!" Pansies white, tears dimmed my sight, As in cold hands I laid thee, When a soul so fond passed in beyond The gates that closed before me. Pansies sweet, thine incense keep Of thoughts so good and pure, Inspire my heart to do my part, Each day, stronger, higher, truer.

Weary of Waiting. BY CARRIE WINANS PRATT. So weary, of walking in the way That mortals are ordained to go, And longing for a broader play For hopes and dreams, but no! 'Tis toil on, watch on, wait on, ever. So pleading, for a love that gives To heart and mind a strength To rise above the earth, that lives, And moves, and satisfies to every length; But 'tis toil on, watch on, wait on, ever. So happy, if I could reach Above myself and grasp the why Of all these years.

Are they to teach My heart, that ere I live, I die? Still I toil on, watch on, wait on, ever. So blessed, if I might hear The whisper of some spirit nigh, That said to me, "'Tis but a year, Or yet a day, why dost thou sigh?" Look with courage on, hope on, wait on, ever. We aim, in publishing this paper, to give to the public something which Kansas does not have. That is, if we can get the support of the people. Not long ago in London a preacher indulged in this little bit of sarcasm over a small collection: "When I look at the congregation," said he, "I ask where are the poor? and when I look at the collection I ask, where are the rich?" -Exchange.

We offer this paper to all who will subscribe for it before July for 50 cents a year. We kindly thank all who have given us assistance in our efforts to bring before the public a magazine, and of this, our third issue, we print and circulate 2,000 copies. This issue is only four pages, but we hope to make some growth in the next, and circulate 5,000 copies. We hope to still grow as the months go by..
