Sweet has brought suit in attachment in distiict court against Orlando Webb. The case is a little out, of the ordinary. Mr. Sweet alleges that he delivered to Mr. Webb $120 between March 1 and July 1 this year.

This money was to be used in buying horses. Webb is a horse trader and was to return the 0420 to Sweet and pay him half of the profits. Mr. Sweet alleges that the profits amounted to about of which he was to receive half. On July 20 Webb, so the petition says, without the knowledge or consent of Sweet took nine horses to La Fontaine where he disposed of all except one.

Attachments were run on the horses at La Fontaine and everything of Webbs that could be found here. Mr. Sweet asks for judgment for $770 and interest. S. D.

5 Senator Hoar Was Absent-Minded. Senator Hoars absent-minded exploit last week of securing the passage by the senate of a measure that had already become a law, recalls the story of the senator which is sometimes told in these parts. Ho was at a private dinner attended by a number of public citizens. One of the guests had just finished an anecdote, and the laugh had scarcely subsided when Mr. Hoar started in, saying that reminded him of something, and told over again the same story that the company had just listened to.

Mr. Hoars telling was naturally a groat success For every one realized at once that he hail been thinking 'of other matters when the story was being told the first time, hut had caught barely enough of me thing to be reminded of the anecdote as it lay in the recesses of his own mind. It should be added that little foibles like this have only endeared Mr. Hoar to the people of Massachusetts. Spring-Held Republican.

School Fund Buys Bonds. A Topeka special says: The state school fund commissioners have purchased in bonds of LeRoy cit and LeRoy township in Colley county This purchase was made upon authority of a special act of the legislature last winter. Senator Kennedy put the bill through and handled the bond deal. The bonds were issued to take up some old railroad aid bonds issued years ago and drawing (i and 7 per cent interest. The new bonds will draw 41 percent interest.
