Our mail carrier who has been snow bound for over a week, has again visited the creek.

Rev. Joseph Huber had the misfortune to break his carriage while returning from church last Sunday. Miss Elizabeth Beach and Dr. Cockran from Vergil, came here to attend the funeral of her grandfather, Mr. Clark.

The friends of Mrs. Jake Neibrecht will be glad to hear that she is recovering from the injuries received in falling down cellar. Rob Douglass, Jim Harris, Frank Sinclair and many others kept themselves more than comfortably warm shoveling snow last Sunday. Some of the people on the creek were prevented from attending the funeral at Mr. Beach's by the amount of work required to render the roads passable.

Two cars were derailed on the Santa Fe track south of the creek by a broken rail on Monday in almost the same place where there was so much trouble with snow on Monday of the week before. Joseph Clark of Canton, Wm. Clark of eastern Missouri, and Mrs. MeHenry of Peoria, are visiting with their sister, Mrs. Beach aftar being called here to attend the funeral of their father.

DISTRICT THIRTY-EIGHT. February 19. Over the County. Mr. Baker is sick with the grip.

Roy Shultz visited with Glen Blue last Sunday. Willis Christison is seriously sick at this writing. Walter Shultz visited at W. H. Edwards Sunday.

Mr. Kellum visited with James Gibson over Saturday night. Joe O' Rear and family visited with home folks last Thursday. The wolves are pretty thick in this neighborhood since the snow. These days are very gloomy with so much sickness and such deep snow.

Ethel Bethurum has been sick for the past week and not able to school. Will Shultz nas returned home from Chanute where he has been working. Mr. Schermerhorn of Halls Summit was a caller in this neighborhood one day last week. Byron Forbs has returned home from Oklahoma where he has been spending the winter.

Mr. and Mrs. Emit Conkel are the proud parents of a new baby girl born to them February 11. Death has again visited the community. Will Doherty was found dead in his wagon where he had gone to the field for hay last Friday, His death was caused from heart failure.

R. Phillipi visited at J. W. Hughes Sunday. Misses Hilda and Louisa Jutzi called on Mrs.

King Wednesday. Stephen Duncan who has been seriously ill is slowly improving. Mr. and Mrs. S.

Kinney visited with Thos. Phillipi and family Friday. J. W. Hughes has just purchased 80 acres of land south west of Burlington.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert King visited with her mother, Mrs. A. Cumming Friday.

Lee Hedden's wife and mother have been very sick the past week. Mrs. Nelson was able to go and visit Mrs. Woods last Sunday. Lonnie Harbour from Nebraska is here visiting his aunt Mrs.

Shepley. Elmer Shepley left Monday to baul corn from his father's farm north of Ottumwa. George Thorne and family spent last Saturday night and Sunday at Mr. Shepley's. Mrs.

Nellie Zerkle who has been visiting at Mrs. Shepleys returned to her home in LeRoy Friday. Mrs. Shepley left Saturday for Allen county to fill his appointment at the Union Creek church for which he is pastor. Miss Anna Metzger was greatly pleased last Saturday to see her old friend Mr.

Wyda whose coming WaS a week later on account of the snow blizzard. Rev. Budd preached a most interesing sermon Sunday on the subject of physical leprosy comparing it to the leprosy of sin and the only remedy was the application of the blood of Christ and his power to heal.
