7 PETERMAN FREE! THE CHARGE SHOWN TO BE UN I FOUNDED. More Like Malicious Prosecution Than a Legitimate Charge May Make it Harder For Love. CURTAINS AND DRAPERIES. 11 The trial of the case of statutory rape charge sworn out against w. K-Peterman by Sadie Downing which took place yesterday before Justice Rapier resulted in a complete vindication of Mr.

Peterman. The court discharged Mr. Peterman promptly at the close of the testimony and held that the prosecution was malicious and without probable cause and taxed the costs to the complaining witness. The decision of the court was greeted with rounds of applause by the spectators who thronged the court room i dnd it was with difficulty that Sheriff Dinsmore succeeded in securing order sufficient to complete the necessary details. The defense was that the prosecution was instigated by the Love family for the purpose of break ing down a case pending against Frank Love for a similar offence on the Inman girl.

The States witnesses were contradicted by a large number of witnesses on every point and it was shown that the Downing girl had repeatedly charged her condition up to Frank Love who is now in jail ana exonerated Peterman and had made threats to swear the crime to the other PaMis8 Downing is a bright girl, but shows by her manner that she lias seen much of the world-too much and in the hands of desperate and unscrupulous parties would be a dangerous menace to society or any individual whom she might seek to implicate She has been living at Geo. w.
