Historical Soeiet State Houst TOPEKA, KANSAS, OCT. 26, 1918 DEFERRED ACTION ON HUTCHINSON JOB ANTHONY SCHOOL BIDS NOVEMBER 4 ATCHISON HOSPITAL COMMUNITY HOUSE PASSES BOARD BIDS NOVEMBER State Council of Defense Postponed Action on $100,000 Hospital Bids Were Not Opened Oct. 14th As Previously Advertised. Work Started by Contractor T. Johns.

Nine Bidders on $90,000 Proj Government Permit Secured Because there was not a full attendance of the State Council of Defense at Topeka last Saturday, it was decided to postpone a decision upon the recommendation of a building permit for the construction of a $100,000 hospital building for the Sisters of Mercy at Hutchinson, Kansas, until the next regular meeting of the board which will be held on Nov. 2. This is the job for which the general contract was awarded to the Stamey-Mackey Construction Co. of Hutchison recently. In the meantime the contractors are taking figures on all materials and labor so as to be ready to start as soon as a permit is received.

The building is to be four stories and baseiUant in height. 50x150 of brick and reinforced concrete construction. Barnette-Haynes-Barnett of St. Louis are the architects. Monday November 4th, at 8 p.

m. is the new date and hour set for closing bids on the large school building for Anthony, Kansas. This is the project which has twice been postponed on account of a shortage of bids. It is hoped that a satisfactory figure will be received this time. Wm.

Mampe of Kansas City, is the architect. R. H. Beebe is clerk of the board of education. The building is to be two stories and basement 72x118 of brick, stone, terra cotta and reinforced concrete construction.

A deposit of $25 for plans is asked and a check for 2 of bid must accompany each bid. Plans are on file with the. architect and the clerk. ELECTRICAL CONTRACTS AWARDED. Buffalo, BONNER SPRINGS HIGH SCHOOL PLANS FINISHED.

ENLARGING HUTCHINSON SALT PLANT. The State Council of Defense Will Pass on $40,000 Project Soon. HILLSBORO COLLEGE WANTS PERMIT. H. H.

Daniels, of the Wyandotte County Council of Defense has asked the State Council of Defense to pass upon the project of building a $40,000 high school building at Bonner Springs, Kansas. The State Board will probably consider this at their next meeting. November 2. Smith, Rea Lovitt, of Kansas City, have designed a two story structure, 112x134 of brick, stone, reinforced concrete and frame construction with a composition roof. Clark Kelley is clerk of the board of education.

Plans For $75,000 Building Await Government Permit. The State Council of Defense will be asked to grant Tabor College at Hillsboro to secure from the War Industries Board at Washington a permit to erect a $75,000 college building. Plans for the structure have been completed by Architect Wm. Mampe of Kansas City, and bids will be received as soon as a government order has been secured. This is to be the first of three college buildings to be erected for the college in the near future.

H. W. Lohrenz is president of the college. The first structure is to i be three stories 90x160 of brick, stone reinforced concrete, tar and graveh roof and oak finish. JUNCTION CITY HOSPITAL A CITY PROJECT.

PRATT SCHOOL AWAITS GOEVRN MENT CONSENT. Building of $150,000 School Now Is In Hands of War Industry Board. Germanys Reply To Allied Demands Obscure The War Industry Board at Washington has not yet given the city of Pratt, Kansas, permission to erect their new $150,000 school building. This project was handled before the new formation of the State Council of Defense went into effect find was referred to the War Industry Board at Washington direct. No report has been received from this board as to whether it will be permitted or not.

W. E. Hulse Co. of Hutchinson are the architects. Mr.

Hulse was in Washington recently to with the Board. The building is to be three stories and basement, 120x200 feet in dimensions of brick, stone trim and reinforced concrete construction, with a composition roof. F. L. Crick is president of the board of education.

E. Weist as was formerly announced. This project has not yet been referred to the State Council of Defense and for this reason it is not yet known whether the work will be done this year or not. W. E.
