MANY SCHOOLS FOR KANSAS. Bond Elections Will Be Numerous This Fall. With an unusually prosperous year for Kansas farmers coming to a close, it seems probable that many new school buildings will be built in various towns and cities of the State. Kansas people are more optimistic over financial conditions now than they were in the Spring, and it is thought that in most of these towns where elections will be held that bonds will be voted. Among several of the large towns which will hold bond elections are Hiawatha, Iola, Ottawa, Horton, Lawrence, and Salina.

In every one of these towns and cities, school buildings are crowded and in several instances school is being held in business buildings to accommodate an overflow. There are few Architects in Kansas who are not preparing preliminary plans for school buildings. No Site for Bentley School. The Board of Education at Bentley, Kansas, has not yet selected a site for the new school building for which Architects Mann Gerow, of Hutchinson, prepared plans and specifications. It is thought now that all matters perta ning to the construction of this school will be deferred until next Spring.

McLeod and Crandall of Hutchinson, who have the contract for the $12,000 Dormitory for the Free Methodists at -McPherson, will take figures on mill work, structural steel, and iron gutters and down spouts. The schools are badly crowded and need of a new building is urgent. Salina Gym to Peterson. Owing to a technicality, Reuben Hedenburg, the lowest bidder on the Gym to be built for the Kansas Wesleyan University here was not awarded the contract for this work, and the next lowest bidder, Otto Peterson, of Salina, has the contract. Work has started on the excavating and only the basement and first story walls will be completed this Fall; the superstructure to be built next Spring.

$110,000 for Salina Schools. The Board of Education of Salina is discussing the proposition of submitting a bond issue for two new school buildings at the coming November election. It has not been definitely decided to take this action, but owing to a crowded condition in the schools, and the favorable feeling that exists it is the conseusus of opinion that bonds will be asked for. Last Spring a bond issue amounting to $175,000 was rejected. No Architect for Salina Church.

Five architects from as many different states are being considered by the Methodists at Salina before a selection is made for the purpose of preparing plans and specifications for a new 000 Church.
