9 THE COMET LOCAL MENTION Malcolm Hughes, who has been sick with inflammatory rheumatism, is able to be out. Ernest Hogueland, ex-OO, is studying law with Rossington, Smith Histed in Topeka. Miss Parker and Miss Scoville took tea with Miss Jessie Guild one evening last week. Harry Dean, a brother of Miss Jessie Dean, spent Sunday in Topeka with Washburn friends. Miss Esther Gilmore who is attending Bethany will come out to Washburn after Christmas.

Miss Doughertys father and brother came up from Kansas City last Friday and made her a short visit, Miron White returned from his trip in Southern Kansas in time to play against the Indians Saturday. Quite a number of new members were voted into the Endeavor society at the Central church Sunday night. Coleman, who umpired the game Saturday, was the High school coach in 97 and the next year coached the Indians. Miss Bledsoe, a music student here last year, has gone to Boston to take a course in the New England Conservatory. All who wish to play in the orchestra should apply at once as the members will have their pictures taken soon.

Sal Moore, ex-02, visited friends in Topeka Sunday. He is out, on the maintenance track survey of the Santa Fe. All who are disturbed by midnight howlers should notify the ZoS class and an expedition will be sent out to inspect their lungs. The Juniors enjoy seeing the Sophs on the anxious bench. They have been there themselves and are willing to stand up now.

Miss Maude Parker, Miss Gertrude Rankin, Mr. Carl Johnston and Mr. Talt Crane heard Moore came back from Salina Friday. Go to Dr. Lux, Dentist, 531 Kansas ave.

Worsley spent Saturday and Sunday at home. Miss Fanny Leland took dinner at Hartford Friday. Miss Rankin visited the Misses Enlow Friday. Dr. Fisk conducted chapel services last Friday.

Will Townsley was in Topeka a few hours Sunday. The athletic fence needs another top coat of barb wire. Miss Dougherty is teaching Prof. Harsh-bargers classes. Prof.

Conant has organized a faculty German conversation class. Mr. N. E. McPherson of St.

Marys, visited his son Harry Tuesday. Frisbey was on the sidelines rooting for Washburn in Saturdays game. Miss Alberta Scoville spent Sunday in the city with her aunt, Mrs. Knowles. One of the Holbrook girls is winning her way to fame by her fortune telling.

Miss Woodford and Miss Fryehofer are studying violin under Miss Clarke. Professor Hyde went to Junction City Monday on business for the College. Coach Owen went to Wichita on Sunday to celebrate winning the first victory. Mrs. Scott of Edgerton spent Saturday and Sunday with her daughter, Miss Bessie.
