J. tin, Wichita, 1 and 2 pul. When the doors were closed it was said truly that this had been the largest, best and most satisractory poultry show ever hela in Wichita. The weather was fine ail the week and there was many visitors from other points as well as from the city and vicinity. Secretary Schopr is more enthusiastic than ever and well he may be 10r it was certainly the greatest show ever held in Wichita.

The association feels that its efforts were appreciated and will make a strong effort to have even a better show next year. "We shall conduct our show next year on the plan of eastern shows," said Secretary Schopf. "We already have plans on foot that will certainly result in the best show ever held in Kansas next year. We are not going to be satisfied with something just as good but expect that next year's show will be as much better than this as this is better than last year." The Wichita Poultry association held ItS annual meeting in the show room the last night of the show and elected the following officers for the coming year: A. J.

Waddell, president; M. F. Sims, Dr. J. Martin.

Chas. G. Woodworth, H. L. Smyser and Claude Shuman, vice presidents; H.

W. Schopf, secretary; A. M. Butler, assistant secretary; H. B.

Allen, treasurer; M. F. Sims, poultry superintendent; Claud Schuman, assistant; L. E. Ward, pet stock superintendent; W.

C. Curtis, assistant; Otto Weiss, Mrs. J. R. Kenworthy, Dr.

J. Martin, H. B. Allen, L. E.

Ward, executive committee. Many matters of general interest were discussed at the meeting. It was the general feeling that the show this year was better than ever and the result satisfactory. Local poultry fanciers and all who are members of the Wichita Poultry and Pet Stock association are overjoyed at the engagement of I. K.

Felch of Natick, to place the awards and score the birds at their next show. By the terms under which he has been engaged Mr. Felch will judge no other show in the state of Kansas, neither this year nor next. This gives the Wichita exhibition a prestige which no other show will have, and if chicken fanciers living in this part of the country want their birds scored by Felch, they will have to come to Wichita to have it done. At the last meeting of the poultry association, there were over twenty members present and all were enthusiastic over the last show, and the prospects for the next one.

The treasurer's report showed a neat balance in the treasury of the association, after all premiums and other expenses had been paid. Two new members were voted in, which makes the total membership now reach about 65 men and women. The date for the thirteenth annual exhibition was set for January 4 to 9, 1904, inclusive. This date makes the Wichita show come the week before the state show at Topeka, instead of the week after as it did this year, and this is believed to be another feature in its favor. Some Don'ts Don't buy your wife a fine cockrel or even a setting of nice eggs for if you do she will get her head full ofnotions.

She might want the chicken house repaired and she might ask you to clean some of the last year's dirt out of it. Don't never do it though. She'll want you to mend some chicken yards and that might cost you a dollar or so, to say nothing of the bother and vexation. Now don't do anything of the kind. And then comes another heart-breaker which perhaps you had not thought of.

In the fall your wife might select some of those uniformed pullets and ask you to part with those dear old hens which probably have been the pride of your grandmother's youth. And I will venture to say that out of every crate of eggs or coop of chickens you sell she will ask you for two or three cents for pin money. Women are so selfish. If you take warning by these don'ts I may send you some more. -Aunt Jane.

W. Alfred, the owner of these birds is a resident of Sharon, Barber county, and has been very successful with the Silver Laced Wyandottes. Prior to coming to Kansas Mr. Alfred was in the poultry business at Columbus Junction, Iowa, and his birds hve been prize winners for the past ten or twelve years. Dampness is bad for pigeons and other poultry and should be guarded against.

If the pigeons bathe in the loft it is best to set the pan on a large piece of paper or cloth which will absorb the water splashed Poultry A Parent Reprimanded Sometimes I think 'at parents does Things ist about as bad as 'fore our vurry eyes at that!
