4 THE AGRICULTURAL SOUTHWEST Broom Corn Department First THE MARKET. Considerable Brush Moved the Past Week, Prices Firm. The movement of broom corn has been brisk the past week and activity reigns at the warehouses of the western dealers and brokers. Manufacturers who have come to this section to secure a line up on conditions, have bought considerable brush. In the buying centers, considerable broom corn that was contracted for earlier in the season is being delivered.

Although a great deal of dissatisfaction is said to exist. In some instances growers are only delivering a part of their crop, claiming that other parties own the balance. In some sections there is a probability of considerable trouble on contract corn unless compromises are made by buyers. The markets are firm at points in the Southwest, 'all the broom corn that is offered being p'eked up at once, at good prices. Liberal, is the largest street market and is flooded with buyers, although considerable brush is offered at Shattuck, Alva, Woodward, Guymon, Gage, Elk City, Higgins and nad an Texas, and other points.

Price: range at these places firm, $140 to $200 for desirable stuff. One lot of choice parlor corn grown in the Sterling district sold the past week on the Wichita market for $210. A larger percentage of the crop has been contracted for and it is believed the present prices are the prices that will rule this season. It is impossible however to make predictions on broom corn as this season has demonstrated. ILLINOIS.

Reports from the Illinois district state that broom corn is selling at $220, and that some growers are holding for $250. A. M. Todd of Coles County refused an offer of $245 per ton for his first cutting and $210 for the second. He say's he will hold out for $300 and believes he will receive that sum. Several sales at $210 were received this week, and the hope of housewifes that the price of brooms will drop this Fall and Winter will not be realized W.

E. Smith of this city today secured a price on broom corn for the first time in several weeks. The prices he secured today are subjected to immediate acceptance. They show the Oklahoma corn to range from to cents per pound, while Illinois corn which is considered of better quality to range from 11 to 12 cents per pound. This makes the Illinois In $220 to $240 per ton.
