This slap is intended for the Eagle, and as we always strike straight from the shoulder when slapped at, we will "adhere to truth" and remark that the slouohy individual who manages the rickctty Press had befer pay us the ink and paper borrowed at various times, and the mone he owes us for job work which we did to help pay hia debts and keep up his rotten' concern, before he indulges in any more criti cisms of the above character. I need not tell you tnat it has been reserved for Americans, sturdy men and fair women who, if they have not found have founded an El Dorado in Kansas by the side of a stream of wh ich we are proud, and these are our gs to night. By so doing, it will redound to the mutual benefit of these two cities.

On behalf of the young men of Fort Scott, I also extend to the young ladies of El Dorado a hearty welcome. The kindness which wo have attempted to show to you to-day, we hope you will reciprocate to theso young men. We are all young; our feeling and interests are identical.
