The Prohibition Issue. AdMiM DiTBctary States protected crops will be ready for our markets. Cinein' nati Commercial Gazette. THE LARGEST COMPANY IN THE WORLD. Feeding Horses.

Professor J. YV. Sandborn says: The attempt to make hay the chief ration of horses imposes a severe tax upon them, and the result is seen in their dist mded stomachs and the spiritless and clumsy horses -jf many farmers. All intelligent students of the horse give little hay, and feed grain more liberally than to the ruminants, for the double reason that the horse will make poorer use of the hay than the steer or sheep will, and will be less easy of motion. Ingalls' Platform.

An Alliance, of Coffey county, wrote Senator Ingalls in August propounding a number of questions which it was desired he should answer. The senator under the date of August 23rd replies categorically as follows: REPUBLICAN PLATFORM. Ten years exemption from the evil effects of the traffic in intoxicating liquors, secured by a faithful observation of the constitutional amendment and the statutes sup-plemental thereto, by which vice has been lessened and crime decreased, loads us to express a determined opposition to any changes in the prohibitory legislation of our SICRK'f AHT Or AOKICDLTUB. Most of them use some oats. I should desire to give one feed a day of them and the rest of corn, with a little bran mixed with it on the score of economy. A trial of feeding grain before and after watering resulted, in an advantage of importance to the practice of watering before feeding. This matter I went over with some care, and believe it invites a change of practice on the part of those who feed grain before watering horses. Grain mixed with hay for the horse was more effective than when either was fed alone.
