The organization was completed, (the proceedings of which are elsewhere herein given.) Short addresses were made by Col.

Mason, Hon. G. T. Pierce, Maj. Allen, Capt.

A. W. Adams, Judge Stoughton and others, showing the rule and misrule in this county for the past twelve years the rings, cliques and tricks that have been played upon us the necessities of a change, of the uneasy feeling predominating amongst the people, the premonition that wrongs had been perpetrated upon us, and the necessity of speedy and prompt reper-ation being demanded by the voters. The speeches were well received and loudly applauded. An excellent ticket was then placed in nomination for the several county offices elective at the coming election and declared upon, (the ticked is found at the head of our columns).

A platform of stirring and genuine resolutions was then adopted, which ought to cheer the heart of every man, woman and child who reads them. The Gazette was by resolution made the recognized organ of the party and for its fearless advocacy of the right, and exposure and denunciations of wrong wherever existing, was pledged a hearty support and it will receive it. A live, active and working" Central Committee was appointed, and the Convention adjourned with the utmost good feeling and determination to go for the scalps of those old ring-worn court-house rats, to clean out the political stables, and institute "honesty, capacity and integrity," as pre-requisites hereafter to be demanded from those who seek places of trust and honor. While we have been advised that money has been proffered to prevent the action of this Convention, yet the cool heads and warm hearts of our Democracy were intent on something of more value the people's interests, and protection to the common whole. That the rads are quaking in their boots is apparant, and well they may, for as sure as election day is approaching, the time of the disenthrallment of this people is near at hand.
