John Lane recently purchased a new gun and the boys tell a good story on him as a result. While not having any serious intention of going to Cuba he concluded to improve his marksmanship by a little target practice by placing a board in the rear end of his harness shop and getting in the front end where he took deliberate aim and pulled trigger.

The gun was discharged and an oil can sitting in one corner out of the way immediatly leaked, according to the story. The protracted meeting at the Methodist church closed last Sunday evening after a very satisfactory interest had been developed. The interest thraughout was all that had been anticipaied and standing room was hardly obtainable at the evening meetings. Many professed having experienced the Spiritual change and mauy who had formerly enlisted renewed their allegi-ence to the cause of the Master. It was a good meeting.

We notice the official county paper has printed the election returns under the head of commissioners proceedings a thing we never saw before, and if it is paid for will amount to more than $20. If the commissioners want to give some money away Leroy Dick was down from Parsons Thursday. Frank Nelson was over from Oswego Wednesday. Ross Hagarraan was up from Territory Wednesday. Charley Klein, of Oswego, was in town Monday and called.

E. J. Kinzer contemplates building a residence in the near future. Friday next is Christmas. Will you try to make some one happier? We understand that Parsons will have to fund her outstanding warrants.

Mrs. Gossard was over from Oswego Monday looking after her property. George Hodgin has so far recoverd as to he able to come in town Wednesday. Parsons wants a State normal school. Why not try for the Cuban rebelliug.

A. Geiselhart, of Carthage, was in Altamont Moday. He owns a farm near here and was looking after it. B. F.

Gobble having rented his farm to Lem Angelo will move to town and occupy the Lane property, north of S. Walter. Report has it that Dr. Huff will move back to Altamont as soon as the necessary swapping of residences here will permit. Suits cleaned, and dyed at Pierce City Steam Laundry and dye works.

H. McNee advertises his nice residence property for sale. He informs us that he will go south if he can dispose of this property. Uncle Silas Prather received the news Wednesday announcing the death of his youngest brother at Carlisle, resulting from being struck by a falling tree. For Sale.

Frisco Line Holiday Excursions one ern Missouri has been conducting the meetings. A big wolf drive is advertised for Christmas day.
