30, 1882, 15,600 issued during December 215 Past Chancellor, F. J. Treby. Our Union is in a very prosperous condition. We have at present 65 members in good standing, all Beneficiaries.

Have had only one withdrawal this term. Have yet to hear of a single member of our Union complaining of the action of the Supreme officers in regard Eto the Rowswell and Thayer claims. We are also troubled with the chronic complaint of other Unions. In getting our members out those that live four or five milea out of town are the most regular, while we have members within a quarter of a mile of the lodge room that have not been in more than once twice during the last term. I am also sorry that out of a membership of 65 that we can only find ten that take your truly valuable paper.

The reports and information in the November number 'alone I think are worth more than a year's subscription. Our Union is in favor of the charter fund, and voted $1 to be forwarded to Secretary. We hope others will be of the same opinion, and take prompt action, so we can have them the sooner. Our Union pays the assessment and dues of sec. and acct.

during term of office, be they more or less, and after paying them and SI 2 interest, $5 to janitor, $16.25 per capita tax and call 35, we have about $30 due the ry. We think we are doing well. Yours in P. E. T.

and A Member. 15,815 to January, 1, 1883, The above report is most respectfully submitted Attest: W. H. MUZZY, S. S.

A. Curtis, the following preamble and resolution, after an animated discussion, was unanN mously adopted Whereas, The Order known as the Equitable Aid Union is an organization professedly based upon high moral principles, having for its leading object the social happiness of all its members, prohibiting in its general teacbinga, the indulgence of personal habits in any way injurious to the comfort and health of its members, therefore, it is hereby Resolved, by this Union, that the use of tobacco, either by smoking or chewing, is an unmitigated and inexcusable evil and nuisance, and from and after this date, the use of tobacco in any form or way, is prohibited in this Union, from the moment when the doors are opened before and closed after each meeting. Why are Etna and Vesuvius like a man who smokes Because ihey are per umbu lating on human legs. Near enough. A place for everything and everything in its place," is a grand old adage, but where on earth is a place that tobacco and whisky do not disgrace? Fraternally, H.

Hammond and P. Simon. Financial Committee not yet appointed. The proceedings of this meeting were very cordial and pleasant. Some discussion, upon points of which a difference of opinion existed, had a place, but a vein of pleasantry and good humor was ed by every member taking a part, and by all in attendance.

Before the close of th meeting a very pleasing episode was introduced. The Secretary, in a few kind remarks by Bro. C. L. Rathbun, President elect, was presented with two beautiful glass ink stands, set in a polished steel-plated base, with calendar attached, a superb gold pen and holder, and a bottle of ink.

The surprise was complete. In the surprise and confu-ion of the moment the incipient Secretary did manage to thank his worthy brothers for their beautiful gift, but if they expected a speech from the recipient of their gift they were, for once, disappointed. Hoping to hear of the continued prosperity of your valuable paper, I remain, fraternally, L. A. West, Sec.
