The Eighth Grade Commencement on Wednesday evening was fine, with more than twenty graduates all filled with youthful vigor, the stage presented a happy and cneerfal appearance. Died Mary S. Wheatley, wife of J. Wheatiey, at her home in this city, May 11th, 1893, she was born Nov. 9th 1834, aged S9 years 6 months and 2 days, of spinal disease, after suffering tor three years; joined the M. E.

church at the age of 16; married to J. J. Wheatley Oct. 1st, 1877. She leaves a husband and three children to mourn her loss.

Funeral services by Rev. Maclean, of the M. E. church. Yesterday was Roll Call day at the Baptist church.

Exercises occupied the afternoon and evening. About 100 of the members responded to their names; thrte were baptized in the evening. Rev. C. II.

DeWolf. of Parsons, made a profitable address at the afternoon session. It was a spiritual feast for all who attended. Thus closed two decades of life for this church. Montgomery county farmers are sending chinch bugs to Prof. Snow at Lawrence to have them infected, after which they will be scattered through the growing wheat. This means of exterminating the chinch bug is comparatively new and at first was looked upon by some as a huge joke, but practical tests more thorougly demonstrated the fact that it knocked them out the first round. Cases of failure are very rare. Several Wilson county farmers are trying it this spring.
