On Saturday last a sad and disgraceful quarrel took place in Rock Creek township, about six miles ea.it of town, with serious and almost fatal results. Mr. Dean, a renter of tho farm where the affair took place, and a neighbor by the name of Cook were the participants. From what information we can gather it seems that Mr. Cook's hogs trespassod on and destroyed Mr.

Dean's growing wheat, aud that sometime ago Dean drove them home and requested that they, should be kept up, which Cook agreed to do. On last Saturday Mr. Dean took the necessary hands and went over to the place to harvest his wheat. Upon arriving thoy found Cook's hogs in the wheat, and Dean sent him word to come and drive them away. It seems as though Cook, instead of complying with the request, proceeded to abusu Dean, and during the dispute diew a knife and assailed him.

Dean attempted to elude him, but Boeing he could not, ho also drew a' knife and picked up a moukey wrench and turning on his assailant. Cook then struck him in the face with his fist, whereupon Dean dealt him a blow on the head with the wrench, and followed it by a cut across the breast with a pocket knife, making a severe but not dauger-ous wound. The knife entered near the nipple and passed diagonally downward, reaching in one place the abomi-nal cavity. As yet wo havo hoard of no arrests being made.
