THE PRIMITIVE CHRISTIAN, WELLINGTON, KAN 4. WHAT THE CHURCH IS DOING. Stillwater, O. Tm July 3. I am now in a meeting seven miles southeast of Stillwater.

One excellent young lady obcyod tho gospel yesterday. J. Monta Jones. Atoka, I. (Indian Mission) July 1.

Seventeen dollars added the past month by contributions to the church building fund. One hundred and nineteen added to the congregations in tho month of June. Leon Officer. Nebraska will be hold with Silver Creek congregation, Jefferson county, August 17 to 21. We invite all brethren, whether of Nebraska or not, to come and attend the meeting.

It is not a preachers' meeting, but a meeting of God's faithful children. Wo want to confer together in speaking of tho gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Thompson is a station on tho Rock Island railroad. Kestcrson on the B. M.

railroad. Fairbury on St. Joe and Grand Island railroad. Get ready and come, let us meet and worship God and help each other on to the land of immortal bliss. Those who intend to stand up for the truth, as it is revealed in God's word, should meet and become acquainted and help each other along in this work.

Do you want to know why the society pcoplo make a great show? I will tell you, they have their workers constantly in the field. Those who can do effectual work should bo kept constantly in the field, building up new congregations and calling faithful brethren and sisters to greater efforts in spreading the light. D. Collins. Thompson, Neb.

Conway Springs, June 10. Wo have recently had two added to tho congregation at Bello Plaine. Yesterday two (husband and wife) were-received into the congregation hero. Yesterday afternoon three were baptized into Christ. Tho good work goes on.

I have offered my resignation as evangelist of tho congregation at Conway Springs, to take effect in December. This is my eight year with them. D. T. Broadus.

"IT IS COMING." Worthington, Juno 29. Today I closed a nine days' meeting in Covington, which resulted in ono brother reinstated and two additions from tho United Brethren. Covington is a hard place, but we have a faithful little band of brethren there who have been shamefully driven out of tho old church by organ, festivals and lottery operations by apostate brethren. This is the homo of Bro. A.

Elmoro who ever remains firm for truth. Later on see my letter in this paper addressed to-the erring brethren of Covington, Ind. James W. Zachart. THE PRIMITIVE CHRISTIAN.

Hudson Madison, Tennessee. WELLINGTON, JULY 13, 1893. POWER OF THE PRESS. The power of the Christian press is the only one which can not be influenced by the antagomistic principles of darkness. Its purpose, therefore, is not only eminent, but truly beneficial, because genuine Christian literature is enlighten ing.

More than ever before tho activity of a religious and moral press is needed. An evil literature, serving the egotism of corrupted politicians and partisan ecclesiastics has spread itself all over this country like a miasmatic fog, poisoning tho minds of the people, and undermining that foundation of religious and moral success, which is the desire and hope of every true member of the church of Christ and every loyal citizen of this country. There is no danger of having too many solid papers published. Compared with the millions of intelligent men and women, young and old, tno activity of a simon-pure, moral and religious press is far from over-productive. Hence, when wo see a new blossom appear on the good treo of universal information and knowledge, this blossom ought to "be greeted with sincere appreciation, and tho treo itself ought to be supported with all means to make the blossom become fruit-bearing.

The Primitive Christian is a young blossom on the good tree 1 speak of. It ought to be hailed with a good will. The prospect for wholesome fruit is indicated by the purity of the color and flavor of this young blossom. Bro. Popplewcll has done a good thing, publishing a paper, which is intended for a noble, grand mission, falling in line with the OctograpJtic Review, May the Lord bless his work, and may The Primitive Christian become tho means of leading many out of darkness into the light of scriptural Christianity.

Faithfully holding up the gospel banner, The Primitive Christian will handle tho sword of the spirit, the word of God, in honor of that divine truth, which alono can make us free from error and ignorance. Wherever this messenger of truth is knocking at the door, let him find a hearty welcome and a lasting home! God speed The Primitive Christian! (And may it become a thorn in the flesh of the Vatican church!) Detroit, Mich, F. A. Wagner. Every onco in a while we seo utterances from enthusiastic woman suffragists to the effect that "it" (woman's suffrage) "is coming." Thisistruc, possibly, but so much the worse will it be for the world should it come.

Wo do not remember ever having read or heard of any one attempting to justify woman's suffrage, so-called, from a scriptural standpoint. The reason why no one tries to place woman's suffrage on a scriptural basis is simply because all know the Bible condemns it. If by some process of law these woman suffragist women could be transformed into men, and, from the force of circumstances, compelled to wear breeches, and the men transformed into women and compelled to wear petticoats, would not the long-looked-for millennium be usncred in A lady, a real, genuine, modest, refined lady, one who has no disposition to bedraggle her skirts in the slums of politics, or step out on the political arena; a lady who loves home and does not wish to be the head of the family, boss her husband, rule the government, make laws, is the very highest type of God's creation, and challenges the respect and love of men wherever she goes. We are willing to live in a Do mocratic government, a Republican government, a Monarchy, yes, a Despotism, but from a petticoat government we can but say, "Oh, Lord, forever keep us Watchman. Atoka, I.

July 3. The debate with the Baptist preacher at No. 2 only lasted three nights. He is gone. Twenty-one turned to tho Lord as the result of the meeting there.

A number of Baptists saw the error of their way and turned from human traditions to tho truth, as they now see it. The debate with Elder Smith of tho M. E. church will begin on the 13th at or near Leader. Elder Smith is the best posted among tho Methodist preachers of this country, and a very pleasant gentleman.

We expect a good time. There will be a reporter there to take the speeches down in full. I can not tell how long the debate will continue. I am sorry it is so far from the railroad only thirty miles but it is in a splendid community. An arm of the' Missouri, Kansas and Texas runs out from this place eighteen or twenty miles towards where the meeting will be, then the journey is made by private conveyance.

It has been a little doubtful about the debate coming off up to a few days ago, but it is settled now. R. W. Officer. THE MINORITY NOT ALWAYS WRONG.

A FEW THINGS. Do not think you are more likely to be wrong because you are in a very small minority. Majorities have always been wrong, especially in religion, from the fall of man until now. When the flood came, who knew it? Who were saved? Noah and his family eight persons. Only these in all the world were right, not a single convert gained during this long preaching of righteousness outside of his own family, and perhaps not these.

When tho cities of Sodom were destroyed, who knew it beforehand, besides Abraham? And who were saved, besides Lot and his two daughters? When Nebuchadnezzar was a monarch of the world and made a ponderous image, and commanded all the world to worship it, who were right, save three that would not obey the sinful command Selected. SEED THOUGHTS. Thero arc a few things practiced by some of our people, who claim to bo gospel preachers, that would provoke an angol, if possible. The president of tho Christian (devil) Endeavor society, in his remarks at Hutchinson, was heard to say, those people who would not fall in with the movement were weak and dwarfs. Would you not rather be a dwarf and bring forth sound fruit in the end, than to be a fungus growth, as he, when the harvest comes, and be found a smut ball? Is God an all wise? If so, why did he not order the Endeavor society and the organ in the gospel of Christ, the same as it was in 1890? If so, what became of our forefathers? They had no organs nor Endeavor societies in those days.

We must work and keep it ahead of tho church. All devils try to keep ahead of the church. I have a friend who was once a sound Christian, who preached apostolic doctrine, who is now an innovator. He says ho has not changed, but enlightened. Why could he not find organs, estivals-and fairs commanded twenty years ago as well as now? Now if they progress as Peter tells usr then there will be progressing in the church, instead of retrograding.

The wonderful Mr. Everest, of Hutchinson (I dare not call him brother), is changing pulpits with the sects, and if he preaches the word of God, he can not do it often with a Methodist man in his congregation. Are we not going into Babylon? "Beware lest ye also, being led awav with the error of tho wicked, fall from your own steadfastness." II. Pet. 3:17.

Frederick, Kan. Warrex Lindsey. BASKET MEETING AT LERADO. "Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in tho evil day, and having done all, to stand." Eph. 6:13.

One to stand does not need only a part of tho armor of God, but all, every piece. This is surely an cyil day in which we live. One to stand firm has to endure much hardship. "Thou therefore endure hardship, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ." II. Tim.

2:3. When wo think it hard to stand against the great tide of corruption and worldly-ism that is pressing on those who want to bo loyal to their Leader of the host of God, it will encourage us to turn and read Paul's treatment as he relates it in II. Cor. also II. Cor.

what a sad picture this last statement is, for one who was working all the time to save his fellow creatures from present and eternal ruin to bo thus treated. In perils among false brethren was the isadest fate of it all. When those, from whom we expect kind and brotherly treatment are false, Jiow sad one has to be then! The mass-meeting of the church of Christ in There will bo a "basket meeting" in tho grove at Lerado, near this place, the fifth Lord's day in July. Bro. Joseph E.

Cain, of Belle Plaine, will be with us, and we desire all the preaching brethren who can arrange their work so as to attend will do so and join us in tho worship of tho Lord. We expect the congregations of Langdon and Arlington to meet us in tho meeting, and the brethren generally are cordially invited to attend. On Thursday evening preceding the meeting Bro. Cain will preach atPenalosa. JohnC.
