Mr.

Edwards will be welcemed back by all his neighbor. Four rehearsals were held this week for the opera "Patience or Bunthone Bride." Those studying it rdmire it more and more. They hope to give it before the public two evenings next week, but due notice will be given in these columns and by posters. Phis opera is having great success throughout the United State, and it in all respect the best of Arthur Sullivan's productions. At the session of the South Kansas Conference, Methodist Episcopal church, held in Burlington, March 1882, the undersigned were appointed a committee to receive funds from the friends of the late Rev.

D. P. Mitchell, for the purpose of erecting a suitable monument to his memory. The committee decided, after consultation, that at least six hundred dollar ought to be secured; and to this end respectfully solicit a large number of $10 subscriptions. Send name and money to Rev.

The moat commodious and pleasant grove in Southern Kansas has been secured for the occasion. Martin, Jo. Waters, and Judge Hackney are among the talented orators engaged foi the occasion. July Fourth at 1 Dorado. In response to a call by the mayor, Dr. Allen White, a citizen meeting wa held at the court house for the purpose of getting up a Fourth of July celebration.

The following were appointed a committee on general ar-ragements: J. S. Caldwell, J. H. Fullinwider, M.

J. Gordon, Frank Haskell, Geo. Younk-mnn. J. S.

Caldwell and Al Conlev. The meeting then adjourned to meet Saturday evening A meeting of the above committee was held immediately after, J. W. Shiveley in the chair, and Al Conley secretary, at which the following sub-committees were appointed: Committee on Program M. J.

Gordon, J. S. Caldwell and F. A. Haskell.

Mr. Wilson says the storm that pasted through that part of the county did great damage in some instances. Prof. Shidler, of Augusta, is stopping in town for a few days. Mr.

Shidler is one of the best teachers in the-county, and a young man of energy and perseverance, and would win success in most any calling. L. E. Steele and family, of Burlinfigton, were in the city to-dny visiting. Mr.

Borne of the boys seem to think that the rvquent visits of our talented young artist to Wichita, means the coming shortly of a Wichita belle to El Dorado to live. Towanda, in Butlar county, is an excellent point for business locations. It will be one of the nicent little towns in Butler county in two or three years if it gets the road.

There seems to be but little doubt, that a bridge will be built at the John Heath ford west of Towanda. If such should be the case, EI Dorado as well as Towanda will receive a nice bade from Benton township. The building formcraly occupied by the Kaoue cfiiee has been moved across the avenue, and the Eagle office is now in the building just opposite the court house, where we t. are vor glad to have our friends call and see us.
