Pres. A man remarked on the street "I get the easiest shave in town at Augustine's." dtf the bondholder he said this: "To rettise' to pay the bonds in gold, would be repudiation and extortion ami would be sculling at the blessings of Almighty Gods." llow can these contradictory statements be reconciled? Her attention was given to Mr. Sherman more particularly because he is republican authority on finance and is more responsible than any other man for the present financial system. Mrs. Todd made three speeches in Cowley county, to large audiences and was warmly applauded in each of them.

W. 11. Utley spoke last evening to a crowded houce. This speech would have to been heard to be appreciated. His oratory is matchless, his irony and logic invincible.

From their own mouths and their own principles they stood condemned, lie showed thatthe principles of the sub-treasury plan was in active operation in this government today as reuards bonds, silver bullion and whiskey, and that the demands of ti people's party was an appeal of an outraged people demanding thatthe same principle be extended to all or i hat these privileges be blotted outand that all citizens be treated fairly in the race of life. The speaker said that there was no doubt that these demands would be heeded in the near future. One noticable feature of both the meetings was, that there were many old party advocates present, who had applauded Ilallowell the evening before in his puerile efforts to bolster up the national banking system, aud ridicule of the earnest demands of an outraged people, me'i who have been badkrupted and pauperized under the Sherman system of finance, these men were there and their countenances seemed to indicate that they had lost all the friends they ever had. As Mr. Utley said many of thesefell ws will "hatch" all right but what they need is a little more squeezing in under Sherman's financiering.
