THE AMERICAN CRANK. SECOND ANNUAL HORSE SALE. The second annual sale of fine horses held Tuesday was a grand success, there being some three or four hundred horse men from all parts of the country and they kept things lively with the bidding on the desirable lot of horses Mr. Grant had for sale, The prices were as follows: E. Levi, of bay gelding grandson of old smuggler for 350. The full amount of auction sales were 7,000 then there was about $3000 in private sale, making in all 10,000 a pretty good day's sale for Oswego. Who says it is a dead town Whereas, We recognize the difficulties to which our representatives ami state officers are and have been subjected. Now therefore be it Resolved: That we adhere to our determination to overthrow the monopolies, which are sapping our substance, destroying our homes and usurping the entire agencies of government. That we approve the patriotic, brave, humane conduct of Governor Lewelliug and the other state officers and that our Senators and Representatives, also that we recommend a submission to the elector of a proposition for the removal of the capital of the state to a law abiding locality therein.

That we recommend to our Representatives forbearance until it shall cease to be a virtue. That all acts of violence be avoided until the employment of force shall be undispensible to the maintainance and vindication of rightful and constitutional authority. That then all good citizens will respond promptly to the call of the executive in support of law and order. PROBATE COURT. Estate of Helen P.

Flannelly, insane: The sale of real estate in Chetopa, confirmed. Estate of Albert Every, minor: Annual settlement filed, showing a balance of 51.44 in the hands of guardian. Stanley Trinder, of Parsons, filed an application for permit to sell intoxicating liquor. Set for hearing March 27, at 9 o'clock a. m.

Estate of John A. Murphy, minor: Final settlement and guardian discharged. Estate of Wm M. Griffith, minor: Guardian askes for authority to sell real estate. Granted; bond required double the amount of real estate to be sold.

Estate of Leroy II. Cooley et al, minors: Guardian files an annual account, which was approved. Estate of George W. Crews, deceased: Inventory and appraisement filed and approved. MARRIAGE LICENSES.

The second annual elocutionary contest, of the Oswego city schools, will be held at the opera house, Friday evening, March 3rd, beginning at 8 o'clock. The following prizes have been offered by our public spirited and enterprising business men: Dr. W. S. Newlon.

Columbian Souvenir Half Dollar. J. M. Grant Souvenir Half Dollar. In asking for the above prizes no one was solicited that gave a prize last year.

There will be twelve contestants, one from each department of the city schools. The one 1 receiving the highest grade will have first choice of the prizes, and the one receiving the next grade will have second choice, and so on, all receiving a prize. General admission 20 cents, reserved seats 25 cents, school children 15 cents. The proceeds will be applied to school library and philosophical apparatus. Kvery- body invited to be present and encourage the pupils and teachers of our schools.
