H. J. HOOD. Obituary. ROBINETT Kirbyville, Jan.

12. Dear Editors of the C. Please accept my heartiest congratulations in what I hope will be a happy union of our two best little papers. I am so well pleased with it. Such a sweet name! It's a Christian companion, sure.

I have already noticed improvements. I am truly proud of the C. C. It is such a clean little paper clear of all envy and strife. I read it from cover to cover, and have gained from it many grand and noble lessons.

May God ever be with you in your noble work. Haven't anything of interest to report from this part of the Ozarks. Mud and severe cold. I haven't heard a sermon preached, since on the eve of the 14th of last September. It seems we can't get any of the preachers interested enough to come and preach for us.

I know we are poor in this world's goods, and can't support a preacher as they should be supported, but nevertheless I think we are worthy. We certainly need a good loyal preacher to come and preach for us. I fear the sects are eroinsr to get a strong, hold here. A Charlotte Robinett, born June 26, 1827, at Toronto, and died Jan. 4, 1910 at the home of her youngest son, J.

M. Martin, near Pond Creek, Okla. She emigrated to Athens Ohio, with her parents in early childhood. She was married to Abram Martin, in Athens on Jan. 6, 1848, who preceeded her to the other shore just 3 years the 3rd of next month.

We laid her body to rest in Maple Grove cemetery at Wichita, beside her husband on the 6th. (which would have been their 62nd. wedding anniversary,) there to await the call of the Savior on the resurrection morn. The funeral service was held in Gill's undertaking parlors and was conducted by Bro. H.

E. Moore, who gave the relatives and friends words of sympathy and spoke of the uncertainties of death and fo the Christian's final victory over death, as shown in the life of mother Martin. She obeyed the gospel in 1853 in Ohio, under the ministration of Elder L. M. Harvey, a pioneer preacher of the Church of Christ, and lived faithful and loyal to her blessed Master to the end and died in the full triumph of a living faith.

She was rational to the last and knew that the time of her departure was at hand and that her' bodily suffering would soon be over. Mother Martin was the mother of eight children -five sons and three daughters. One son died in infancy, the rest are all living. Mother is gone! She leaves behind a host of friends which will ever rever her memory as one-that always hsd a ycid cf cheer and ment to the striving Christian. Dr.

C. W. GOODRICH. Presbyterian preacher is going to preach here once month. A couple of Mormons were at Kirbyville three weeks ago.

It is needless to say I did not go them. Possibly I am too much of a crank. I have a few questions I would like to ask; also a few passages in the New Testament I would like hear for you to explain. Please explain John 3:8, also Matt. 5:30, also the last chapter of James.

I have had it explained several times but not to my satisfaction. Also, what did Christ mean when He said "On this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against What did He mean by "prevail against Did He mean that it should not prevent the building of it? Do you think we stand condemned in the sight of God for what seemeth sinful but is beyond our power to control after we have fallen down at the feet of Jesus and begged and implored Him to remove the bitter cup from our lips, but as the years roll bv our life becomes more sad and restless and the cup more bitter? And last, but not least, can you tell me why so many oi our able preachers confine the most of their preaching to the wealthiest churches? Is it because they think that the souls of the wealthy class are more precious that the souls of us who imO. HINDS' TRACTS. We are now prepared to fill orders for all of Bro. Jno.
