Cured by Ayer's Cherry Pectoral. Mrs. P. D. Hall, 217 Genessee Lockport, N.

says Over thirty years ago, I remember bearing my father describe the wonderful curative, effects of Ayera Cherry Pectoral. Daring a recent attack of Grippe, which assumed the form of ft catarrh, soreness of the lungs, accompanied by an aggravating cough, I used various remedies and prescriptions. 'While some of these medicines partially alleviated the coughing daring the day, none of them afforded me any relief from that spasmodic action of the longs which would seize me the moment I attempted to lie down at night. After ten or twelve uch nights, I was Nearly in Despair. and had about decided to sit np all night In my easy chair, and procure what sleep I could in that way.

It then occurred to me that I had a bottle of Ayer's Cherry Pectoral. I took a spoonful of this preparation in a little water, and was able to lie down without coughing. In a few moments, I fell asleep, and awoke in the morning greatly refreshed and feeling much better. I took a teaspoonfal of the Pectoral every night for a week, then gradually decreased the dose, and in two weeks my cough was cured." Ayer's Cherry Pectoral Prepared by Dr. J.

G. A. Cooper, the retiring member of the Board of County Commissioners, has served three years, and made a first-class officer ia every respect. The discharge of his' public duties was characterized by the same prudence, care and inte ligence with which lie has always managed his private affairs. True to the Democrat ic legend "Equal rights for all and special privileges to none," the tax-pavers of the county, without regard to race, color or previous condition, never had a better friend on the Board than Mr.

Cooper. He leaves the affairs of the county in excellent condition, and retires private life with the well-earned plaudit, "Well done, good and iaithful servant." Why Editors are Unbelievers. Iu the following the Rev. T. De-Witt Talamage undertakes to explain why so many newspaper men are skeptics: "One of the greatest trials of the newspaper profession is that its members are compelled to see more of the sham of the world than in atiy other profession.

Through every uewepaper office day afjer day all the wickedness of the' all the church bickerings, all vanities that want to be repaid, and the mistakes that want be corrected; all the dull speakers who want to be thought eloquent, all the meanness that wants to get its wares noticed gratis in its editorial columns, in order to save the tax of adverting columns all the men who'Svaiit to be set right, all the cracked brain philosphers whose stories as long as their hair and as gloomy as their finger nails iu mourning because bereft ot soap; all the bores who come to stay a few minnteB but slay hours. Through the editorial and report' orial rooms all the folliek and the sham' or the world are seen dav after day, and the temptation is to belifve neither God nor man nor woman. It is no surprise' to me that in this profession there are skeptical men. George W. Read, the sole surviving member of the family of four, two of whom were found dead in their house here Monday, has recovered consciousness and is able to throw a little light on what has been a deep mystery heretofore, with rumors of poison. She said, to-day, the family retired early Saturday night after a light supper. Shortly afterward she thought she detected the odor Oi gas and called Mr. Read's attention to it but he did not think so and did not get np.

Later he thought the rooms were growing cold, and lit the gas in both-tbe stoves. After this he went for the doctor for a neighbor, and on his return returned to sleep, which is the last she remembers. She declares that there was no person about the honse. The stomachs of Mr. Rend and tho servant were sent to Kansas City for chemical analysis, but as no evidence of poison was found the coroner's jury returned a verdict that the deceased came to their deaths by causes unknown to thorn.
