44 inl The hanging of the effigy on Rogers' carpenter shop, last week, caused considerable fun for the boys in general and more especially among the old 'vets, and G.A.R boys, as knowing ones say they bad a hand in the affair. The signs penciled on the front of the shop, "Those who enter here leave hopes behind them;" "Beer, wines and eigars for sale here," "Restaurant;" are indications that the closing of the saloon and the hanging of the keeper, (in effigy) by an imaginary mob, are emblematic of something yet to he divulged. The Sedan Graphic has the following to say of the aesthetic traveling man of the Star and Kansan, "We have the word of Boss Henri that his traveling man Friday is a "gentleman."
