The disturbance is said to have occurred on account of a valuable rooster belonging to Mr.

Franck being missing. Fire crackers occasioned the usual amount of trouble and many persons more or less damaged by their free use upon the streets. The first injury heard of by us, as a result of playing with firecrackers, was that of a little ten-year-old daughter of Mayor D. E. Cornell, who, in lighting a fire cracker, had the misfortune of having it explode while in her hand, and burning and seriously injuring the eye ball.

It is feared that the injury may be so serious as to permanently injure her eye. This sad event had the effect to destroy the anticipated pleasures of the day for the family. All the different church societies and Sabbath schools and many of the secret societies, held pio-nics in tlie various beautiful groves about the city.
