This voting meat will be conducted on strictly business principles, with perfect justice and fairness to all concerned. Any lady, married or anywhere, is eligable to enter the coniest. For every dollar paid on subscription to The Dearing Times the subscriber wdl be entitled to cast 500 votes for the lady of his, or her, choice; for 50 cents, 250 votes; for 25 cents, 125 votes. Names of contestants will be published each week in the order nominated, and the number of votes cast for each up to the hour of going to press. One hundred complimentary votes will be given with each nomination, Votes once deposited in the ballot box cannot be transferred to ano her.

The publisher will not tell who you voted for. Contestants should keep a list of votes turned in esch week and see that the publisher's figures verify it, A committee of three disinterested parties will be selected to make the final count and award the prizes. Every contestant in our voting contest who fails to receive one of the Grand Prizes will receive a cash ccrumii-sion of five per cent of all cath collected on Mibsciiptions by her and turned in to us. The date of closing contest will be announced later. Until further notice each issue of the Times will contain one free voting coupon, good for 25 votes when cut out and properly filled in ana brought or sent to this office.

The number of students at the University of Kansas who are self-supporting has increased this year about seven per cent. Over eighty per cent of the men in the University are wholly or partially self-supporting. The number of men who use their vacations for recreation and pleasure alone is very small. John Cooper, township trustee, informs us he has sold his farm five miles south of Dearing and expects to leave in a few days for Oregon, to look up a location. Name P.O.., D. F. Green, the harness and shoe man, closed a deal Tuesday morning whereby he becomes the owner of the Schockey property, next door south of his present locatioa Joe Kellar who was arrested some time ago on the charge of having participated in carving another Pole by the name of Tony Juras, plead guilty to assault and battery in Justice Crane's court Monday and was fined seven dollars and trimmings. The receipient of the attack is doing well and will suffer no permanent injury as a result of the knifing he received.
