Owen Duffy had an important suit against the city in the District court for several days this term. It was to recover $25,000 da mages for alleged despoliation of property at Third and Choctaw streets by the Rapid Transit, Kansas City, Wyandotte Northwestern and Chicago Great Western Kail-way companies and the city of Leavenworth. The damage is alleged to have been caused by changing the grade of the streets. The suit was filed Feb. 18, 1880.

Saturday the cases of the railroads were dismissed on demurers leaving the city the sole defendant. The jury gave him a verdict for SirT5. David Robinson, who was sent to the State penitentiary in 1804 for six years for burglary in a clothing store, was pardoned a few days ago on account of great service to the state in quelling a revolt i-n the prison. At great personal risk he, sing-le handed captured a convict who was in the act of cutting- his way through the guards' with a pick. The convict started the insurrection in the cell house and arming himself with the pick axe threatened to brain any one who tried to stop him.

Warden Landis with Robinson entered the room as the leader of the insurrection Mrs. Connors Wants Dani tges. Mrs. Mary E. Connov widow of the late John Connors, has filed a suit in the District court to recover $10,000 damages on account of the death of her husband.

Connors was killed by an electric car on Fifth avenue on the evening of March 3. 1S07. In her petition Mrs. Connors alleges that the car was running at a rate of 20 miles per hour, and though the operators of the, car saw Connors standing by a team near the track no effort was made to stop. It is alleged that the employes of the road recklessly, carelessly, negligently and wantonly ran into and killed the man.
