'John N. Garrett is renewing acquaintance with Augusta and her oitizens.

Mr. Garrett was one of the first settlers in Augusta coming here in 1870. He proved up on the Thorpe farm. For a number of years he has lived in the south but his health failing he decided to return to the Italy of Americo Sunney southern; Kansas. He has been here less than six months and is considerably improved in health.

Mrs. Garrett and Henry Wilson are cousins. W. J. Freeman has returned to Butler county after an absence of twelve years.

He formerly lived three miles south of town, out in 1885 he returned to his old home in eastern Illinois where be and John Black used to "scrap" with their fellow school mates. After twelve years absence he concludes Butler county is the place on this hemisphere and will make his home here. He will reside temporarily in the Dr. Richardson home just north of the Journal office. He is looking for a good farm to rent.

Will McPherron and Miss Tennessee Carr were united in marriage Wednesday night of last week-by Rev. T. C. Downs, at the residence of her. father.
