Postmaster Nicholson wan with Green-well on the street when Sartin in company with two men were observed following them, walking The two men stepped to the edge of the sidewalk for them to pass. Instead, without a word of warning Sartin made an attack on Green well, hitting him over the head with a re-revolver knocking him down. Green well pulled his gun, but they were so close together that in the scuffle both guns were dropped.

Greenwell succeeded in pickiig up Sartin's revolver and fired three shots. One struck Sartin in the chin, breaking his jawbone, one went through the chest and the other through the abdomen. Immediately after the shooting Green well accomponled by Nicholson started to Winfield and gone himself up to the sheriff. County Attorney Torrance filed a corns plaint agaiist well, charging him with murder in the second degree. His bond wps fixed at $5,030 which he had no trouble giving.

His peiiminary hearing is set for the 17ii in Jud.e Webb.s court. The notwithstanding some adverse conditions, among which were the hot, dusty weather and the (air at Win Held, the attendance at the reunion was good. The crowds were not so large as some former reunions, bat that wa to be expected under the circum8 ances. The speakers Included Congressmen Calderhead, Miller, Chas Curtis and Victor Murdock, Gov. Ferguson, Claud Duval Barnard Kelly and other lesser lights.

Bridge Completed. The large 't stone bridge In the state has been completed and wis formally accepted Friday by the county commissioners of of this county. This bridge Is the one across the Walnut river at the Duokard mill twelve miles south of infield. It has been in process of construction for over one year and built by Walter Sharp, Eureka, Kansas.
