Mothers Itejoiee That a substitute for a young healthy mother's milk has been at last discovered A young infant can only develop its muscles, bones, nerves and soft tissues by means of food that contains the proper elements. Nature aims to provide these in mother's milk but mothers often defeat its intentions by bad habits and consequent diseases, and then seek some sort of substitute as well as they can and yet we see thousands of infants starved or stuffed to death annually for want of proper food. Cows milk is too rich in some elements and not rich -enough in others, and the starch, gluten and farinas employed are mostly unfitted lor young The German chemists have succeeded in compounding a preparation called "(iprman Tnfant Meal," or "Paedo-trophine," that cov all the elements required in the proper promo tions anl is palatable and easily digested. -ie commend it to mothers. Let it be tried once, and Douglas and Surrounding Counties WE CORDIALLY INVITE YOU TO Come and Trade With Us RepnblicamSCampaijtn Finances. Washington, Sept. 27. The New York correspondent of the Philadelphia Times has this interesting news about the needs of Jewell.

The complaint is that the liberal assessments of the officeholders were gathered in early in the campaign and liberally wasted on what Blaine called "splendid dress parades," on Weaver and his hungry followers in Alabama and Arkansas, again on Weaver and his mythical Washington committee to defeat the fusion in Maine, and in the lavish waste in Indiana by the precipitation of a costly campaign early in July, that could not he keptup until October without more money than was possible to be raised. The Weaver investment is denounced by the New York Republicans as a blunder that is worse than a crime, as it has cost a large amount of money without any compensation in Maine or elsewhere, and it now fastens upon the Republican organization the odium of sustaining defeated Greenback leaders who are an offense in the nostrils of the Republicans and at the same time is driving the unmarketable Greenback followers over to the Democrats. The Jewell committee has1 been generally supposed to have ample funds for Indiana and Ohio, but it is now known that the committee has wasted its money and cannot replenish its treasury. Vigorous efforts have been made within the last week to raise money from the wealthy Republicans of New York, but with very indifferent success, and the boasted Philadelphia subscriptions are not one-third the amount generally reported. Blaine raised nearly all the money he received for Maine from his own personal and political friends, and there is nothing to show for the expenditures of more than half a million of money collected for the Republicans than failure everywhere, except in Vermont, and a most costly struggle in Indiana that was begun six week3 too soon, and that has now exhausted both men and money.

These considerations have forced a practical but not a nominal change in the direction of the committee, and Thomas C. Piatt, one of the old-time Grant-Conk-ling-Arthur leaders, will now have much to say in the management of the campaign. The Grant men will not give money to Jewell, and it is hoped with Piatt to expend it he can raise the money now so much needed in Ohio and Indiana. Benjamin F. Butler was at the Fifth Avenue Hotel to-day. He has been campaigning in Ohio and Indiana, making upwards of twenty speeches. lie declares he ha no fear of Landers' election in Indiana. The State, he says, is certain for Hancock by an increased majority in November.

His expectations of Ohio are nearly as hopeful for the Democracy. He asserts that Ohio is a doabtf ul State for the Republicans, and while the Democrats may not carry it in October, the Republicans' vote will show a fatal INSURANCE ON BUSINESS PRINCIPLES- -OO- THE PROVIDENT SAVINGS AssiiranceSociety offl.Y.
