A GREAT PIPE LINE. -THE- over and above this figure will go in the storage tanks until the Kansas KoSm. U' A TELL Immm jit i M. ill, i i -P-rrt. JL "tw City-Whiting line is built, when oil from this state may be pumped through one continuous line to the At lantic ocean.

An oil field that can in one short year draw a pipe line 600 miles to re ceive its product, is a field acknowledged of vast importance to the oil in dustry of the country. And this is Just what the Kansas field has done within this period. No other field has ever accomplished such wonderful results and probably never will. In the extremity confronting the oil production of the country, Kan sas holds the hope of the future, and to this field the Standard Oil Com pany has turned its attention to se cure from it a sufficient supply to maintain its surplus, as well as supply its more immediate de mands. To this call the field is re sponding right nobly and will so con tinue.

1 There are tens of thousands of acres of land yet to be drilled that will add to the production many fold, and the stream at the fountain-head now just starting will continue to grow in volume until the Kansas-Indian Territory oil field will be at the head of the producing column of the states of the Union. It The Kansas Oil Field the Fountain-Head of Vast Oil Supplies. October 1st next will mark an epoch in the history of the Kansas oil field. On that date it is expected to make the first test of the pipe line from the field to the Sugar Creek refinery. The pumping station at Humboldt is near-ing completion, the line is laid and in a few days the oil produced: in the Kansas field will be drawn from it through this great artery and started on its journey to the markets of the world. The building of this pipe line and of the refinery at Kansas City means something.

The pipe line evidences the faith of the Standard Oil company in the value of the Kansas field. It enables that company to transport oil to any or all of its principal refineries, and to keep in operation those which otherwise would be 'oper ated' intermittently or abandoned on account of the diminishing supply of etude in the eastern fields, notwith standing the tremendous efforts now being made to keep up the production of that district by drilling in new wells at every possible point of prom ise. The Kansas oil field is by this pipe line made the fountain-head of the crude oil supply, of the Standard Oil company, and establishes beyond question its importance as an oil field to that company. The production of Kansas has only within the past year commenced to assume any considerable proportions. The month of September, 1903, was the first to show an output of over 100,000 barrels.

The month of September, 1904, will show close to barrels. In 1903 the pipe line runs were a little over one million barrels. Eight months of this year have shown shipments to the line of over three million barrels, and at the present rate of production the year 1904 will 'show shipments of five and one-half million barrels. In the short space of one year it has shown from a nom inal output to an enormous produc- tion, and each month la adding to its fullness. With this tremendous growth came the necessity for better protection pi its interests, realized and provided for by the present action of the Standard Oil Company, and this action is strictly in line with the far-reaching fore sight of that company.

There now re mains no shadow of dbubt as to the ability and intention of the company to care for all the oil the field pro duces. Vast storage facilities have been provided throughout the field, and enormous tankage has been built at Kansas City; the refinery at that point will in a few days consume 7, 500 barrels of crude daily, and with the Neodesha refinery with a capacity of 2,500 barrels, 10,000 barrels daily will go into manufactured product The remaining product of the field STEAM HEAT AND BATHS. RATES $2.00. and $2,50 PER ft1 1- 8 Cherryvale, Kansas. TrfalHiK i1MM is common in Indiana for gas wells to turn to oil wells'.

In Kansas, we sometimes find gas and oil in the same well. All our towns in Kansas that have oil, have natural gas in abundance and are growing into man-ufacturing cities of importance; giving employment to thousands of men and making a most excellent" market for the farmer's wife who sells her poultry, butter, eggs, fruits and garden truck. In addition to all this, is the convenience of the gas in the home for fuel "and lights, in the cities and in the country.
