I like the Pernin system of stenography very much, because it is easy to comprehend, and, taught in Prof. Journey's practical way, 1 feel sure that anyone, with an ordinary education, could learn it in a few months.

To those who desire to take up the study of Shorthand: Having attended the Southern Shorthand' School for the past three months, in which time, i have acquire'! ai knowledge of shorthand a'nd typewriting sufficient to enable me tetake a rapid dictation and transcribe it on the typewriter with ease and accuracy, I most heartily recommend the Pernin system, and I desire to sav that under such instruction as is given in the Southern Shorthand School, any ordinary scholar should bet able to write from 100 to 125Jwords per minute, after a course of three months. For ease of acquirement and for legibility, I believe the Pernin system without an equal.

The Leavenworth Times, as is well known, was never guilty of telling the truth or of being courteous to other papers, but it'is just a trifle cowardly to hit a man who is not in a position to hit back.
