At a late hour in the evening the honorable body went Into executive sestioa for the purpose of electing the various city officers. Everything went along nicely until the nomination for marshall was made. But every one pro posed by Mayor Selig was so unfortunate as not to be confirmed by the council. Should a few ballots been taken on Tom Breese's name, he doubtless would have been the successful man as he had but two votes to gain. As the case stands now there cannot be the least doubt what ever of Prentice's reappointment.
