Jim Biley went to El Dorado Tuesday. C. I. McKnight and wife went to Wichita Saturday. Mrs.

DeVore visited in Greenwich several days of last week. Billie Harrison and wife went to Wichita Friday. Wm. Catt and Tom Wallace left for South Dakota Friday. Clyde McGrew and family motored to Wichita last Thursday Walter Hardy was an El Dorado visitor Saturday.

Geo. Medworth and wife motored to Wichita last Thursday. Don Parks returned from an extended visit in Oklahoma Saturday. Mrs. J.

H. Kippers returned from Wichita Friday where she has been visiting. Loyis Robinson and Roy Robinson of Cassoday visited at Dr. Hurds last Thursday. Dennis.

Robbinson and wife of Murdock Kansas spent the week end visiting with friends and relatives in this vicinity. The Hardtner Press came to cur exchange table last week. We are glad to welcome the Press. It is a live paper from a live town. Mrs.

Crump went to Wichita Saturday to meet Orin and Mable who were returning from their vacation trip in Missouri. Little Exiee Elledge is suffering from a form of blood poisoning caused by being bit by misquetoes while on a visit in the east. New Bridge Between Towanda and Benton. There will be a bridge built between Benton and Towanda township near the Dr. R.

S. Miller farm. The bridge will have an eighteen foot span and an eighteen foot road way. Bids will be received next week for the bridge. County Engineer C.

W. Buskirk returned Wednesday from Rock Creek. Construction on the Rock Creek bridge has finished. M.E. CHURCH.

Palmyra's first nine and the Lincoln team played Saturday with a score of 5 to 19 in favor of Palmyra. Ethel Winegarner who has been assisting Mrs. R. G. Phares with her house work returned to her home in Benton Friday night.

There will be an ice cream social at Mr. Marsicks Thursday night given by the Palmyra Baptist church. Every one cordially invited. J. C.

C. Wallace attended the Wichita Denver game at Wichita last Thursday. A. J. Coberley and wife and daughter Margaret and J.

W. McMaster and wife spent Labor Day visiting relatives in the Sunnydale vicinity. The Douglass Tribune is crediting articles taken from "'The Benton Bulletin," to the "Benton Reporter' We would be pleased to see a coppy of the Benton Reporter and meet it's editorial staff. Mamie Roger who has been on a vacation trip surprised her parents T. Rogers and wife by dropping in on them unaware, Miss Rogers will teach in the City Schools in Arkansas City this winter.

Last Wednesday afternoon, the primary class of the Christian Church was entertained by the teacher Mrs. Fisher in a shade near the church. The afternoon was spent with lots of fun, swinging, playing, and listening to a funny story read by the teacher. Then come the supper which consisted of bread and butter, fried chicken, a little pie for each, cake and lemonade. After supper they all enjoyed fishing for candy.

There were 20 of the class present, for various reasons some were not able to be there. Then it was time to go home and all went thinking of what a pleasant afternoon they had spent. OBITUARY. Class Picnic. William J.

Winegarner, son of Levi and Catherine Winegarner was born in Loudin County Virginia December 16th. 1834. Mr. Winegarner was married three times, 1st. to Polly Hutt, The mother died when the first and only child was born.

and the child followed her in one year. The second marriage was to Julia Schisler, to this unin was born five children, three of which are dead. The third marriage was to Lillie Jones, there were seven children born to this union, 4 girls and three boys, two of the girls have passed away. The Deceased had been a resident of Butler County for 40 years. He was a loving husband and a kind and affectionate father.

He was an active member of the Presbyterian Church and lived straight forward Christian life, he passed away at the home of his son in Oakland California, on August 27, 1913, age 78 years, 8 months and 11 days. Services were held at the Chapel Wednesday evening at 8 o'clock in Oakland by Rev. Bradley an old friend of the deceased attended by a large number of class friends. The final service was held at the Benton M. E.

Church on Sept. 1st. by Rev. Rogers. Interment in Benton Cemetary.

Lenor Hardy, Harriett Spalding and Lena Haase are enroled in the El Dorado H. S. this year. A Gospel team from Wichita composed of Misters- Potts, Freeman, Marlow, Woolf and Prin held evangelical services at the M. E.

Church on last Sunday. These men are sincere in their work and they are devoting a great deal of their time to the cause of Christ. SALE BILLS.
