10 COOPER COURIER. Bert X. Tucker, '01, has been elected Instructor of Science in a Missouri College. Mr. Tucker, during the last month, married one of Cooper's most accomplished ex-students, Miss Anna Van Dalsem.

The best wishes of the Courier staff go with them to their new field of usefulness. Prof. Jesse Lisbon, '97, and Miss Edmun-son, of Coffey, were recently united in marriage. We extend our best wishes. Miss Jean Byall is teaching near her home at Garnett, Kan.

The class of 1901 is widely scattered. Ross Graham is learning the jeweler's secrets in St. Louis; G. W. Weede, studying in Philadelphia; J.

R. McCoy, attending the Theological Seminary in Allegheny; Edna Spencer, studying in Pittsburg while Rena Brown is assisting Mr. Greenlee's in their bakery, and J. M.Bond takes some scientific work in Cooper. Miss Pearl Johnson is teaching near her home north of Sterling.

W. H. Meyer, '99, has the position of traveling auditor for a mercantile firm having its headquarters in Anadarks, Okla. Mis3 Stella Daugherty began a seven month's term of school five miles north of Sterling, September 17th. E.

H. Lees, '92, has completed a fine cottage in Sterling. Miss lamie Mooney is attending the State Normal, Emporia. The friends of Miss Louise Eakin, Jetmore, Kansas, will be sorry to learn of the death of her two sisters. The father of the Misses Mawhinney of the same city has also passed away.

The sympathy of their many friends in Cooper goes out to the reaved ones in their great sorrow. Misses Mary and Mattie Keys are teaching in Rice County.1 Miss Cassie Wiggins, '98, is teaching her second term in one of the best schools in Rice County, and at the same time taking one study under Prof. Newby. An item from the Philadelphia Record gives the name of Mr. G.

W. Weede as one of the most promising candidates for this year's football team. Mr. Weede acted as football captain last year. Will Caldwell, a last year's Normal student, visited college recently.

He has a position teaching for this winter at $40 per Athletics. Cooper opens this year with prospects for an excellent football team. Under the good management of W. W. Stahl, the athletic spirit has been kept alive during vacation.

Many of the old students have returned with the determination to do better work than last year, and many new students have been influenced to enter college, who are equally well determined ta make athletics a success. We are glad to see such an interest taken in athletics by the faculty that they have endeavored to arrange classes in such a way as to allow those wishing to practice to be out at 4:40 p. and have also given rooms to be fixed up as bath and dressing rooms. We should appreciate these privileges and make good use of them. The football season this year opens with a game at Nickerson, September 28th.

The Nickerson team is one of the strongest teams in this portion of the State. We expect a good game and wish our boys After the game with Nickerson a more complete organization of the team, will be effected. There will also be a second team organized. W. W.

Stahl, having resigned the position as captain of the football team, Frank Chase has been chosen to fill the vacancy. The athletic board is trying to make-plans by which Tarkio and Cooper Colleges may be brought into athletic contests. We hope they will succeed as this will be the r'Mui.
