His residence is in urant township and he says that this township has never been in the' county scat. Mr Bryan is a life time republi can an able and honest man. With these qualification and no represen tation from that part of the county he republican convention will make no mistake in placing him on the ticket. The paper will be known as the S. W. K. Conference ournal. The publication will begin in the near future.

This will be another boom for Atlanta making it the central point for conference news. Cane seed at C. Stevens and sons. Charlie Crocker spent the day in Winfield. Frank Elkins was in the county seat today, i -a Mr Rodocker was in Winfield today buying some fine- horses to ship.

He has several horses here but net enough to fill a car. The literary' held at the sohool house Friday evening was well at tended, I. 11.

Wilson the old provident having moved away, the literary proceeded to elect a new president and secretary. Ed Snialley was elected president and John Shafer secretary. The liter ary had not held any meetings for two weeks and for that reason the program was very short. The program consisted of recitations by the children and music by Frank Elkins. The literary ad jotirned until'.

This part of the ranch is rolling upland" used for farming and pasture. The soil ti a rich loam adapted to any purpose that a man would Care to use it.

Passing on to the wet f6und one of the most beautiful locations for a home, that could be found. The house and, barn are nestled in the bottom land with rolling prairie on each side forming a protection from the strong winds. The" house is a large two story frame just built in the pUst few years. On the east of the house is a fine young orchard well protected by mulberry trees on all sides. The barn is a well built barn large enough to stable all the horses shelter the farm implements and a good portion of hay and grain.

Other-adjacent buildings are also used to store the products of the farm. These building are in a rich creek bottom of nearly two bun dred acres. This bottom land is of rich black loam producing the finest wheat, corn, alfalfa' and all other farm products. The creek being so n( at the im provements makes a handy watering place for stock. In fact this is a ranch of four hundred acres and is one of the most conveniently located ranches in this part of Cowley county.

In our next issue we will give a description of the J. Marks ranch. Pictures at Rodockers Winfield Don't delay too long. SUNDAY The services at the Methodist church was well attended both morning and evening. Rev.

Kim ball paeached an excellent sermon in the evening and it would pay all to come to hear him. All are cordially invited to attend these services. Willie Wilson and two children spent Sunday in Winfield. The Christian Endeavor was well attended this evening. Every one expressed great satisfaction in the selections spoken by the children Fred Berry man of Latham and F.

D. White and family near here were guests of James' Kelley and family Sunday. MONDAY Quite a number of people at tended the Race Stevens sale today. A largo attendance is re ported. Empty barrels for sale at the Atlanta Lumber yard 50 cents each; Rev.

Phelps, Baptist Minister from Latham was here today arranging to hold a series of re vival meetings. It is sincerely hoped that he Rev. Phelps is a man of of ability and spirtual power. Any one wishing to make dates for sales will please call at the News office and the editor will tell what dates that are engaged. W.M.

Only five members of the choir were present. -More inter est should be shown by the young people. They arp rehearsing for the rally day to be given on Sunday. the children keep on they will pass by the old people and say to them, take a scat and hear the children sing.

After which an elegant luncheon was served. This was a most enjoyable little party All expressed their pleasure and wishes to the hostess for the many happy returns of the day L. R. Mogle just received the best line of optical goods in the city. Give him a call.
